Oddly enough, it can happen, although awfully rare. And while I cant say I'd heard of a 3 heads before, it's not impossible.

3 heads are almost unheard of and the last known 3-headed animal (as far as I could find) was a turtle found like 10 years ago. 2 heads happen when twins don't separate properly, 3 heads are triplets that's why they are so rare. Most 2-headed anything don't live long if at all. And if you zoom in at the point where the middle and right head meat you can see that that photo was faked from a 2-headed snake.

Pretty cool-looking even if it was fake. But if that two-headed one is real that's just beautiful. I wonder who controlled the body.

According to Abigail and Brittany Hensel they each control one half of their body so I would think it would be the same for the snakes :D

Since snakes move by contracting muscles and doing that "S"-shaped slither thing, that would be quite a feat for two independent heads!

This video talks about some of the details and problems that arise from feeding a two-headed snake:

I clicked on the link and when it was done I ended up watching another snake turn its self into an Ouroboros.

That feeding video was cool. I never considered how they'd fight over food.

And yeah, I saw the ourobouros snake as well... bizarre!

I've never seen a hydra in fiction that does not fight with the other heads over things so I would not put it past the closest things to them in real life doing the same thing XD

It's pretty neat to think that that could be a inspiration for the Hydra myth n stuff. Tho i'd think seeing one of those in the wild would be like hen's teeth.
