You can blame the script kiddies on why the servers are so laggy and not working. :P

Eyup....Go figure. And of course, people are blaming Blizz despite the announcement of the DDOS attack.

Not entirely sure a DDOS would be the sole culprit judging by past issues on launches/events. Definitely doesn't help though.

It's not the sole culprit since every major content patch has crap like this happening and the game has been lagging since 6.0 hit (I have super duper crappy internet and half the time my game ms is higher than my home and I play on a server in my timezone), but it does make for a really good excuse to blame all the problems on. :P Not that I'm not saying they're not getting attacked, and DDOS attacks definitely do slow things down; I've been watching a bunch of surf servers on CS:GO be affected by it to push a different community forward. I think they're pretty always being hit by DDOS so I'm guessing this must be one large, targeted attack to fuck with the launch or something. Still makes for a good excuse to throw all the blame on. :P

Disclaimer: I'm not mad or ragey at them about the launch at all. I knew full well that things would be buggy and the game would be laggy. I actually enjoyed what little bit of the expansion that I could play. I look forward to putting more time in after I get back from my mini vacation.

But the thing is, Blizz isn't blaming it all on the DDOS attack, they are admitting their mistakes too.

I still feel like, after 10 years of running this game, they kind of should have seen the issues on their side coming. Bottlenecking an area is never a good idea (beta testing does not give accurate info as the majority of the players of WoW do not participate in beta, and beta servers typically don't function the same as live). That being said, I don't feel that this was a terrible launch. Shit happened, which was to be expected; they're taking blame for it where they need to, which is nice to see. And I can't deny that they've been working to get everything stabalized.

I still don't understand why all their games across the board have been lagging since around the time 6.0 hit though. My man and some friends of his all play D3 fairly regularly and people with drastically better internet than us are lagging that game horribly to where it's nearly unplayable at some times. And WoW has had this problem too since 6.0 hit. When my game lag is higher than my home lag then I know there's a problem. :P Especially when servers like WrA are just crashing. I'm wondering if these issues are related to the DDOS attacks, and if so, why they weren't doing something sooner knowing a major expansion launch was coming. A bit of foresight goes a long way now that DDOSing has become such a popular "sport." ;)

Pfft, it was totally Bolvar. He's been given s--- for attention ever since he's been made the new Lich King. :P Well, other than his brief stint as a meme from the WotLK loading screens.
