My friend and I make our way to Blackrock Spire. First I get lost.
I have never been to the UBRS so finding it was fun but once I did then it was finding my way to him. Which I couldn't. We find our way only to have the room we needed to clear already cleared and the door is still closed. Leave the instance and wait to give it time to reset. I see a DK leave and ask him if he can give directions since I was beyond lost since not being there before. He (I'm guessing) was going to show us personally. I was so thankful. So we get to the Furnace and clear the room. I see him in his cave and was like "Wow".
I shoot to pull aggro and send in pet. Strangely enough he knocked me around and killed me before I had a chance to get against the wall. Kill #1. Beast 1 Giordana 0
I make the 400 yard dash run back to the instance. Get back to where my companions are. Get setup again. I left aspect of the viper on and this time pinned myself in a corner. I make the shot, send it pet and get ready. I was so flustered I abandon pet, pop haste potion then start timing. Taming was to 15 seconds. With two seconds left KNOCKBACK! Being against the wall yes saved me from full damage but he still got me. Killed me with 2 seconds left on the counter. Beast 2 Giordana 0 and no pet.
No time to find a trash pet and unwilling to call on anything in my stable I figured one more shot, petless, and see what happens.
I make the 400 yard dash again and run back. The two guys came up with the idea of bringing down the Beast's health a bit. A bit bewildered I said ok. I knew it would be impossible to pull aggro but eh oh well. I make the pull on him and they attack getting him to just about half health, he feared them and came after me. Pop haste potion and start taming. 3 Seconds left and he drops. Like dead right in front of me. I stand there just shocked. My DK friend says "I didn't touch him I swear." My friend who was a mage said I'm sorry. His little water element was beating on the Beast. Enough to kill him but not pull aggro. Didn't make sense. Beast is dead, me with barely 1/4 health. I said it was enough. And left the instance. This was the first time I'd not made the tame. Ugh. I was bummed and really upset but took it as a major learning experience. I need to figure out how to drop at least 3 more seconds off my tame time. I realized I was missing a trinket I hadn't equipped. So maybe next time that will help. I only have one more haste potion left.
Last night I figured I would tame a corehound just to try one. After all, no sense in going through the work to get the Beast if I'm not going to use him. Got the green one. I found him cute. Tamed him and named him Greenbean.
Ran dungeons with him and got him up to 80. Crazily I've only seen a corehound twice on my server. He got a lot of "Wows" and compliments. Thought it was cute he does like snort and makes a noiseless howl. I really like him. I will make another crack at the Beast just not sure when. This time though will have to have a healer!This is Greenbean
Next time, speak up if your friends suggest a weird strategy. I've no idea why they thought taking his health down would help... Did they think it'd "weaken" him?
