Baron's Deathcharger - Retired in Cataclysm?

Unread post by Vephriel »

Hmm, well apparently Baron Rivendare is gone completely from Stratholme in the Cataclysm Beta. There's no news on whether his mount is gone forever or if it might just drop somewhere else, but...now might be a good time to grind for it if you wanted it.

Thank you for the warning Veph, I definitely think I am going to pick it up on at least one character.

I've been killing him five years and nothing. I swear to God if he still refuses to cough up by the time Cata hits...

Though admittedly I've never exactly been ambitious about farming this mount, I've never seen it drop either. I definitely have to start increasing my attempts though, always wanted this horse. ><

I got mine back when there was a glitch in the instance. >D I don't know if it still works, but you could be able to walk across or jump on the boxes that dropped the holy water, and they would break, and the gate nearby would disappear. You could kill the Baron 5 times in an hour with no mob worries! =)

They added that for the farmers in 3.0.2-3.0.8, and then removed it. No idea why. It wasn't a bug, it was intended.

I also exist on DeviantArt.

Mmm. Baron mount. My poor guildie has been looking for the thing forever. He has Midnight, though, so I don't feel THAT bad when I ride my Baron mount when I group with him...>:3

Just got that mount the other day. I hardly ever go there but went on a whim because I had nothing better to do and there it was when I downed the Baron. However I was stuck in there for like an hour because I got lost >_<

I can see it...

Baron Rivendare waiting in his chamber, the door opens and a hero steps in and starts slapping him around. After beating him senseless, the hero gets grumpy as the barons deathcharger wasn't there. When the hero left, the baron scrambles to his feet, hastily swallows a healing potion before the gates open and another hero steps in...

Outside the barons door, there is a waiting line, roped off like those you see in theme parks when people stand in line for a ride, all kinds of heroes in shining armour, wielding mighty swords or sparkly wands, each and ever one clinging to a small sheet of parchment with a number written on it. At the end of the line, a seasoned tauren warrior steps up, his armor looking so heavy as you'll need two men to lift it, wielding a battleaxe the size of an orc, snorting in disgust as he looks at his number 7811. "I swear to the earthmother", he grumbles, "if he denies me that friggin' horse again today, I'll hack the database and erase him, just as he never existed."

Hmm so then this isn't a npc removal on Blizzards part. It's... revenge of the disgruntled Deathcharger Farmer!

 Really? I and some buddies have to get on farming that then! We've been trying in little spurts off and on, but getting frustrated.

100 kills and nothing, NOTHING!

However, we'll have to be more dedicated! I had no idea he was disappearing with Cata! :o

Well damn. I was hoping to farm Barons Mount and the Red AQ Bug after i got the tiger, just so i don't burn out. But with this news, my attitude might change. (Tiger doesn't exist, regardless of what people say/have)
