First try?

So, I decided to get ghost kitty, & first statue I got her...


Have you ever had a first try tame i.e. looking for Skoll & there he or she is ready to be at your side?

The first time i got one, it was a first try deal. The second time, it was a two hour ordeal.

Hrm...technically my Loque'nahak tame was a first-try, but I wouldn't really count that. I wasn't actually hunting Loque, and stumbled upon him entirely by accident.

Skoll was ALMOST a first-try tame. The first time I seriously started doing passes for him he wasn't there, but the second time I did, just as I was about to log off, he appeared in thin air right before me. So happy!

I usually end up finding rare pets when I'm not looking for them, so yeah, plenty of first-tries, I suppose. xD Skoll, Loque and Gondria. Loque twice, actually.

I've not had that kind of luck with Northrend rares, but if I decide to go tame an Azeroth rare, it's generally there. Araga I wasn't even really looking for, it was more of an "I wonder if she's up" moment. OCJ, back when I tamed him. The Thousand Needles rare silithid. ... Others that I can't recall right now. >_<

Very gratz on your ghost saber, I can remember the hour or so I spent on my hunter running around feeling foolish poking statues

When Skoll's WoW patch hit, I had to have him. I visited his spawn points and he wasn't there. The next day, I did so again, and he was, and I tamed him. As far as I know, when I'd checked the day before, a lock had just killed him--so I was a server first Skoll tame. It was cake! I didn't actually camp because of my Gondria tame not long before--which was soured because of how much time & stress I took finding her, including cross-camping spawnpoints with other hunters!

Usually my "first tries" are when I'm not specifically after that pet. The exception is Snarler--he always seems to be there when I want him

I've been lucky to get a lot of pets on a first try. Ghost Saber was one of them.

My "first try" pets are usually ones I wasn't looking for, except for the Clutchmother, who I later realized is pretty much always there.

Yeah, Skoll pops up on a regular basis when I'm not looking for him and he trots around like he's been there all his (demigodly?) life.

Gondria and Skoll were log on (camped at one of their random spawn points) tames for me. Both were within arms length and tamed as soon as my sweaty palms allowed. Those were 2 great days.

The very first time I had even the vaguest thoughts of looking for the Time-Lost proto when I was mining in Storm Peaks, she shows up out of the blue. I was screaming in joy, until a friend flew over and whispered me that he had been tracking her (him?) and lost her. XD I stole it on accident!

To make up for this spurt of good luck, the farm for King Krush was incredibly painful. Took me about a month of just solidly tracking the Basin, back and forth, back and forth. I'm well acquainted with the ground foliage near that one pillar, Skytouched I think.

When my hunter was in her late 30s, I decided I wanted Araga. Popped over to check, there she was, got bored with her a few hours later and released her. I didn't half realize how much of a bitch she is to camp.
