Plea for realistic dogs
We got the little pug for enduring erm.. pugs... and it is quite realistic, but I think it'd be great to have larger dogs represented as realistically in the game, and especially tameable ones rather than a vanity pet. Can't say the mastiff looks that good really and wolves have always lacked the lupine sleekness they deserve. I know my dog-loving hunter friends constantly complain about how the big cats are designed so well, but there's little for them in terms of 'man's best friend'.
When it became unavoidable to get a wolf, because of the howl buff, I went for the Zul Drak demon hound, because to me that was the most presentable. Pity the other skins aren't available too. But I think Blizzard would please a lot of people if they could introduce better-designed dogs and in more variety. There must be a lot of dog lovers out there who've thought the same.

Well dog's wouldn't really be in the wolf family, tbh. Sure they can breed with wolves, and all that, but they should, if they were made, get their own family.cowmuflage wrote:Ugh i'm sorry but i'm not with you i think the wolf family has WAY to many skins allready and its like blizz likes them the most theirs way to many familys out there who really need new skins more than the wolf one does.
Honestly, I would kill to have a Wolfhound. Or a deer hound, god I love them. Even a great dane, or a doberman.
Sides. Cats and Dogs; or felines and canids, are the meat and bones of the animal world. Most people roll over for them, no pun intended.
But honestly? I want to see horses and Zhevra's, instead.

Re: Plea for realistic dogs
I'd alos love to see a Border Collie, but not too sure how they'd feel as hunter pets. A mini pet maybe?
Here's an interesting question, what would dogs get as a family ability?
Re: Plea for realistic dogs
Loyal Friend: Intercepts an attack meant for the hunter. Blocking XX to full damage, redirecting it to the pet. 50 second cooldown. Useable only on the hunterMoonlost wrote:Here's an interesting question, what would dogs get as a family ability?

I even have an ability for dogs. Takedown-Charges enemy, knocking enemy off its feet. Does X damage if enemy is fleeing.
I got the idea from watching Military working dogs kick ass.

Yeah, poodles are pretty neat. Is that a standard or a big one in your sig?Dvatori wrote:If i could raid with a poodle pet i would regain my belief in gods. The picture in my sig would be a great place to start!

Actually no. You ever have a good dog? A good dog will die for you.Kalliope wrote:Sounds suspiciously like...intercept. >_> Or Roar of Sacrifice.Ryai wrote:Loyal Friend: Intercepts an attack meant for the hunter. A rattle snake attacked my dad- and while my mom was alive he kept the story up of Heidi went for the snake on her own. No, evidently the snake wanted a piece of dad, and Heidi charged the snake in a barking fit.
edit: and no Heidi thank god didn't die. She got a dry bite. Her face swelled up real bad, but she lived.

I know what you're talking about. I'm looking in terms of sheer functionality. What you're ideally looking for is a ghoul sacrifice sort of effect - which I don't think Blizzard wants us to have. >_>

Re: Plea for realistic dogs
I have to agree here. It also depends on what kind of dog you're talking about. If it's a more "dumb", bigger dog it would most likely charge to help you, but a "smarter" breed would most likely use some more strategy, such as attacking from behind or calling for help. A good dog is loyal and helpful, but not necessarily dumb enough to get itself killed.Kalliope wrote:Or a good spider. Or a good crab.Ryai wrote:Actually no. You ever have a good dog? In terms of real-life dog breeds, I would die to have a Siberian Husky. Such beautiful dogs. <3

Re: Plea for realistic dogs
Yeah I kinda agree here. Everything in wow tends to veer away from the realistic and I think that's part of what makes it work;cowmuflage wrote:Ugh i'm sorry but i'm not with you i think the wolf family has WAY to many skins allready and its like blizz likes them the most theirs way to many familys out there who really need new skins more than the wolf one does.
Broadsword: okay
Massive spiked poison drooling chaos blade: much better
Rottweiller: okay
Giant spiky furred worg with tusks: much better
Etc etc.
If I'm going up against dragons and giants and so forth I don't want a grayhound or a bobcat...

Re: Plea for realistic dogs
They appear to based off the Neopolitan Mastiff...at least, to me that's what they remind me of.

Really big, really cool-looking dogs. But oh boy, would all those wrinkles cause problems down here in the Alabama summer heat.
Now if they were actually going to put more dog-looking dogs in the game...sure, I'll take a greyhound or three. But that is probably not on the to-do list seeing how, as a previous poster said, there are already a gazillion wolf skins in the game, Cataclysm already gives two more, and other pet families are rather understaffed on different looks.
