Bad idea to give /use first names????

I had a thought a moment ago and when doing a search didn't see anything on it.

Is it a bad idea, bad form, sacred information or anything along those lines to not give your first name on here when making an introduction???

I'm not saying give your whole name, address blah blah blah.

But wouldn't some prefer to be called by their RL first names???

My name is Elizabeth.

I prefer my first name be used, it's more personally friendly to me.

My legal first name is Sandra. I prefer to use Mania here, though.

In general, if you let me know what you prefer to be called I will do my best to remember that and call you by that name - although my memory isn't that good so you may have to remind me.

... And if you call me Sandy, I will ban you.

I tend to prefer my nicknames online (I've been Karma for...pft, at least 8 years now), to the point when I forget to respond to my actual name online XD In fact, sometimes when I'm writing emails to real-life correspondents I'll be dumb and accidentally sign it '~Karma' or '~VelkynKarma.' XP

I've been so used to doing WoW things as Zeilla or Z, I think I'd have to agree with Mania about using my WoW identity here. I do prefer just Z though. That's what all my guildies call me.

I'm apparently overly-paranoid, according to my friends, so I rarely share first name or even ages with people unless they're people I know in RL and trust really well. xD

So, I usually go Azunara, Azu, Az, Firewing, or Fire as nicknames.

I sualy just like being called ruby or beam or rubybeam as a full name I guess saying a real name doesn't really matter but I warn I won't reveal anything else and if you call my by my real name I will bite your finger harder than usual

Call me joe or joey and i'll be angry and don't call me jo the ho or i'll cry. When i was at highschool the bullys had a ball calling me that.

I've said it in another thread about pet names, but my name is Avalon...tho my nickname is Eva-chan and Max...I do answer to all three names pretty readily so you can call me by any of 'em Altho I do answer to my main char's name, Jazzimus...or just Jazz...cause...I love the Transformer Jazz...he's my homeboy.

Quick story on the Eva-chan nickname tho...it's actually kind of an inside joke. I'm into giant robots, and there's one show, Neon Genesis Evangelion, and the mechs in that show are called Evas. One mech, Unit 2, is red (I wear red a lot), has 4 eyes (I wear glasses) and is from Germany (I'm over 1/4 German) and I sometimes act like the girl who pilots that mech. So I soon had the name Eva-chan that my fellow shipmates decided to call me, first in Japan, then when I was stationed on a ship, the nick name somehow carried over.

I actually do like that nickname, I even made an OC based on it, called Avangelion hahaha.

Well why not, I dont mind - I'm Brittany or Britt - Cal me Britt or Nev or even Ira but never and I mean never mispell my name Britney... I DONT share the same spelling as Britney Spears and goodness sakes many a person has decided to call me Spears as a joke

I will say that though I don't mind my first name being used, here on the forums, I do prefer my screen-name. Calling me Sochi (or even Shaon) here would be my preference.
