-Predators-

Unread post by Qraljar »

Hello, me again. Yes I know, sorry. No! No, don't boo me! Not the popcorn! Nooo *crawls over the ground dramatically*

*Cough*.

Ahem.

The unnecessary, irrelevant shit I want to share with you today is 'Predators'. Yes. The new movie, which originally gave me doubts. Yep. I'm sure I am not the only one having had doubts about it. I mean, the original Predators could never have been topped right? Whatever piece of shit they can give us will not have any valuable entertaining aspect at all? Wrong. I must say I loved the movie without doubt, ofcourse it wasn't a 5/5 movie, but it wasn't something I was expecting, so now people are still slightly in the Predator mode. I made something, just because I was bored and I had to.

another picture 'cause I am bored:

Aaaaand.. another.

So yeah. That's it, pretty random person I am huh?

Anyways, yep. I really recommend it. ^_^

Well, I wanted to like Predators.
I didn't "hate" it.
But I wasn't as blown-away as I SHOULD have been by this far-too-hyped reboot.

I found it rather ordinary. The effects were ok, but honestly, most of it felt exactly like it was in a regular, normal earth jungle. It was lacking that little extra hint of "alien-ness" that could have put it over the top.

The story wasn't anything particularly exciting either. It was basically the same story as in the first film. yes, I know, 'nother planet, 'nother group of people, etc... but when you distill it down to its basics, it WAS simply the same story.

I was particularly disappointed to read that the producers held back on the film, making it less than it could have been, as a means of "testing the waters" for interest in a reboot of this franchise. I think that was the worst possible approach to take. They should have gone full-out. As is, it's an ok flick for an evening, nothing to write home about, and a debatable purchase for when the DVD/Bluray comes out.

Anyway, I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Hehe. I enjoyed it and all. But I agree, I wasn't BLOWN AWAY either, I didn't read anything about them holding back though. That's kind of dissapointing, also. I thought it was rather underhyped and therefore the reason people like it better. Ah-well. It was still worth it's money. It leaves enough space for a sequel in which I hope they WON'T hold back.

Actually, Predators was one of those movies I was REALLY looking forward to. I'd been looking forward to it for a long time, too.

That's probably why I was a bit disappointed. I was hoping for something truly new and unique. In my opinion (and my better half's as well), the two Aliens vs Predator films brought more "new" to the table than the Predator reboot did. They certainly had their flaws, but they brought a new aspect to both film franchises. Something I can't really say Predators did.

I do have to say I was pleasantly surprised at Adrian Brody, however. He was the LAST actor I'd have imagined in a role of this nature. I thought he pulled it off quite well.

Aliens vs Predator movies were shit on a brick they were so bad.....
They were nothing like the Aliens vs Predator games/comics and it made me sad as i am a huge Aliens vs Predator comic/game fangirl. :(
I mean who was the dumbass who thougt it was a good idea to make the first one pg 13? i mean they are both movies known for their blood and gore and when you take those away you take heaps of the films away. The first one had predators hanging people up with skin on! gah they only do that after they have skined them :(

sorry for this rant but those 2 movies pissed me off so much i mean they had SO many good storys and stuff they could of used or used parts off but they had to make it set on earth on our time and they failed both times. Just so bad......
I liked predators it was more of the good stuff.

I'm ashamed to say it but ^

I really can't say AVP was ANYTHING better, skinning everything that made both of those sci-fi franchises good, gore. So sorry, but I can't agree with either Alien vs Predator being good AT ALL. And I think the reason I liked Predators was because I had low expectations of it, sure I was looking forward to it, but the low expectations made it all the better, also. I really can't say I go to a movie to compare it to other sci-fi movies, even it's a supposed sequel. I also have to say that Predators was a more worthy sequel to the first Predator than Predator 2 was. My apologies if you can wholeheartedly NOT agree.

It's a shame I cannot agree with you saying that it adds nothing new either. I mean, we got to see the Tracker, Berserker and Falconer 'Super Predator' (I don't like the names though) which I very much liked. Especially the berserker. Also do we now know ( I am probably not an as big fan as you, since there are comics of it and all that which were before the movie-series, so don't scold me if those already explained it) that there's a stronger version of predators hunting the regulars on. Or another tribe hunting the other one.

Yep. This is a spoiler. But it's unwise to read a thread like this if you were planning to see it and haven't seen it yet. So can't blame me xD

Predator, Predator 2: Great movies, especially the first one.

Alien, Aliens, Alien 3, Alien resurrection: All solid gold A-grade brilliance (yes, even the fourth one, it's brilliant)

AvP and AvP|R: Completely separate franchise from either of the above. Each a lot of fun in their own way. Do not compare to the original films in any way shape or form, but still enjoyable. Personally, I loved the helicopter flight in AvP when all the human characters go through their inevitable-death-look-at-my-kid's-picture scene, and then all but one of them are bumped off in short order :D I'd have preferred if they had gone the Aliens Vs Predator Vs Colonial marines route, but there you go.

Predators: Really fun, but held back too much (notice the scenes that were conspicuously missing, despite being used IN THE TRAILER?). "morpheus" was a terrible, terrible character, badly written and horribly portayed. The doctor also didn't make a lot of sense. Still enjoyed it a lot. Adrian Brodie did a damned good job as the lead.

I agree on most of that, only the doctor, since he was not supposed to make sense at all. I loved that he didn't make sense, and I loved it when I was watching it, first few minutes and suddenly noticed, ''Hey.. Is that Eric.. from That's 70s Show? Awesome shit.''

Sorry, but good 'ol Eric made the film slightly more enjoyable for me. Yep, I both love(d) Edwin and Eric (Topher Grace).
