Loot the Corehound!

Unread post by Rikaku »

Finally! After many tries....

I am an exceptionally picky Hunter. When it comes to pets, it has to the be the perfect one. Even if there's a million skins that look exactly like the one I want, even if they're easier to get, I won't settle for less.

Awhile back I wanted a Corehound. Once I heard their ability in Cataclysm, well! I of course had to have a Corehound. But not just any ol' corehound. NO SIR. I had to have the Grandaddy of them all, the boss, the head honcho: The Beast.

After many trials and tribulations, I finally tamed him tonight. And, well I fell in love with the perfect name for him.

LOOT THE COREHOUND!!!!

(Brownie points if you get the joke)

And of course, obligatory screenshots. SS are cropped because my resolution is huge. XD

My guildleader would just say LOOT DA HOUND!!!! and probably swear. he was a meanie

(Spoiler) "Loot the Corehound" was in MC when people wouldnt loot the Corehounds after they were killed because the designated guild skinner wouldnt be able to skin the corehounds to add the the guildbank or whatever.

I still sometimes have to yell "Loot the damn dogs!" in ICC if people don't loot Stinky and Precious after we kill them. Brings back memories of Molten Bore-errr... Core.

I recently went to tame The Beast for the exact same reason

As a tip for those who still would like to do it solo, its half preparation, half luck for this tame.

Can be done with a few pieces of haste gear and some haste consumables. Bring lots of potions of speed as this is the most critical item. The key is you need to pull with scorpid sting while your back is to the wall, and pop potion of speed after his first charge, then tame. The only way to achieve success is if The Beast misses a charge during this time (hence the luck). If the tame is interrupted within the first 10 seconds, feign death and reset. Its just a matter of timing the tame with a "missed" charge. Might happen in 10 tries, might be 50. Its worth it though

Happy hunting!

I tamed the exact same corehound skin, but I solo tamed one from Molten Core!!!! My helper had died and I did it all solo, I found a scorpied strike helped so reduce its abilty to hit first then a successful tame, was proud of that tame!! :)

I recently did this with 166 haste from gear and used 15 speed pots with two failures at the last possible second as the cast bar was going away before finally getting him.

One question I have though, what level does the beast behave as? He is listed as "1" in the stables, but ?? (Boss) by Beast lore. His physical size next to my hunter is as if he is level 1. (I Just realized I should go tame a normal core hound to compare sizes) He had 18 points when I tamed him, but had 20 points the next time I popped him out with almost no combat up to that point.

I played with him on the training dummy while I had no hit gear and he did not get any glancing blows and had a 3.5% miss with over 1100 swings, while my cat had almost 25% glancing blows and 7.9% miss with over 600 swings. (Should I not be posting this info here and calling light to it, helping get him patched out faster?)

He behaves at the level he actually is, which you can see on the armory, if not in your stable (sometimes his real level does actually display).

GRATS! totally doing that on my hunter. Just have to wait for more stables!!!

Totally taking on the beast too if I do. My baby corehound wants a daddy.
I don't really feel like this is so much the "Post-Modern" era as much as its the "Pre-Zombie-Apocalpse" era. I consider myself more of a forward thinking guy and an era that just won't die is just as feasible as a coming era, where the dead come back.
