Cata. Collectors Edition worth it?
Wondering if folks planning on getting the Cata. Collectors Edition-Expansion why they think it's worth it, & those who aren't getting it, why they aren't.
Asking because we were talking about the Cata. CE-Expansion & I don't think it's worth it to me, the guys were going on how it's so worth it, that the "Art book is worth it alone", "you may have a chance at a loot card that sells for a thousand dollars"... etc.
I'd previously gotten the other CE-Expansions & they're all sitting in the garage in a box, maybe listened to the CD once or twice, skimmed through the Art book, then off to the garage with them...so I just don't plan on getting this one, it's not worth it to me; I do however plan on getting the online viewing so that's a free pet for me anyways.

I'm not getting it. I'd love the minipet and I have always loved looking through the TCG cards, but... well, we got the Wotlk CE, and at the end of it all we use (at times) is the minipet. I just can't justify spending that much extra for that.

It'd be nice if we could get the pets elsewhere.. but that would make them less special and less collectors-like. *sigh*

I'm a collector by heart, thus I must have the CE. XD Also I really enjoy the game music and having the real life Soundtrack would be awesome.
I pre-ordered my copy last night (along with the third season of Robin Hood, squee!), can't wait for the game to come out now. ^^

I've been wanting a Collector's Edition of a WoW game for ages, but I always missed out on the previous ones. This year I managed to grab a pre-order for a CE, so I'm very excited. The minipet is probably the biggest reason for buying it, but I absolutely love Blizzard artbooks, and all the other stuff is really cool.

Nah, not going to bother. I've never gotten a CE yet, and, like a lot of people, the only thing I'm really interested in is the mini-pet. It's just not cost-effective, to me.

Re: Cata. Collectors Edition worth it?
I keep thinking I want it but really that's A LOT of money for someone unemployed and the only reason I was wanting it was for the mini pet. I would be paying $80 (without CA sales tax) for a mini pet. That's crazy!
So I will probably end up passing on this one to.

Re: Cata. Collectors Edition worth it?
My other three collector's editions couldn't live without their cataclysm brother, so I kinda had to get it.
The day it arrives I spend pretty much the whole day going through the extra goodies that comes with it, for me it really just spikes up the anticipation and makes the game that much better when I finally get to dive in!

Re: Cata. Collectors Edition worth it?
My wife and I are getting them. We both like the Art books, and the Mini pets are nice. So you pay $40 for the regular game. $25 for the art book. That leaves $15 for the mini pet and the other little stuff that they throw in. That's about right when you think about it as a package deal.
Frankly, already having a mini frosty, and a mini Onxy.... and about 10 other drakes, I wish we'd have gotten Deathy from Blizzcon for the CE mini pet, and let the mini death wing be the blizzcon pet. I'd much have rathered a new mount for the CE, but... We take what we can get. It'll be nice.
For those of you that want the mini pet, just wait till release day there'll be about 500 of them on ebay, but you'll end up paying $35 for it give or take. Might as well buy the CE and get it all.

Re: Cata. Collectors Edition worth it?
I'm not sure if minipets will work like that anymore. For my boyfriend's SC2 CE the minipet code was ingrained into the game and attached to his battle.net account or something. It wasn't a seperate code you could give to someone else.Pepsi Jedi wrote:For those of you that want the mini pet, just wait till release day there'll be about 500 of them on ebay, but you'll end up paying $35 for it give or take. Re: Cata. Collectors Edition worth it?
I have already preordered mine. It's the art book and the soundtrack I really want. The pet is indeed cute and I guess having some of the TCG wouldn't hurt. XD But it's that art book... IWANTIT.
NEW SIGNATURE PENDING... SOON.

Re: Cata. Collectors Edition worth it?
It's not worth the extra money for me. Sure, cool bonuses and all, but not cool enough for the extra expense, at least for me.
Re: Cata. Collectors Edition worth it?
Personally, my top 3 reasons for getting the collector's edition are:
1. Soundtrack - you can usually get some pretty epic tunes. I know I love my SC2 one.
2. Mini-pet - Come one, its a mini Deathwing. How awesome is that ?
3. Tie between the Artbook and Behind the scenes DVD. Its a bit geeky, but I like the art books and behind the scenes DVDs. They're last on the priority though, because they tend to be a one look, and then rarely seen again...
Honorable mention goes to the mouse pad and the fact that its a DVD install instead of CDs. At least, that used to be an issue. My wow install is like, 6 CDs, just for vanilla. Thankfully, I have the CE's for BC and WotLK, and soon, Cata. But yea... I HATE switching discs when installing. Guess I'm lazy, lol

Re: Cata. Collectors Edition worth it?
It's worth every cent to me. I absolutely love the in-game music and artbooks of any sort are interesting to me. The pet is definitely a huge bonus, I love collecting things. Overall, the only thing that doesn't interest me is the TCG, but if I happen to get lucky... I wouldn't be too sad X3

I'm getting it. I'm kicking myself for missing out on the WotLK one.
