Mammoths, Elekks, Clefthoofs, Stags, Zhevras and others
Any word or hint that we might be able to tame any of the pachyderms, ungulates, rhino cousins and other beasties we love?
Re: Mammoths, Elekks, Clefthoofs, Stags, Zhevras and others
No, I reported this not long ago and there hasn't been a new patch since

Rhinos are tameable and always have been. they're an exotic pet.
The others are never going to be tameable.
The others are never going to be tameable.

Never say never.
We didn't think we'd get beetles either!

But mammoths are too big and kinda useless as a pet. Most of those kinds of animals listed are just game for the carnivors. I've never send a zhevra after jormungar worms.Kalliope wrote:Never say never. We didn't think we'd get beetles either!

Shoveltusks are already NPC hunter pets... and kodo/clefthoofs would make perfectly legitimate additions to the rhino familyTaluwen wrote:But mammoths are too big and kinda useless as a pet. Re: Mammoths, Elekks, Clefthoofs, Stags, Zhevras and others
Odd that the carnivores would pick that. seems very out of character for the Wolvars.Kalliope wrote:These guys here are the pets of these guys here.
also theres the note that Wolvar's aren't playable. So just cause they have them doesn't mean we will. Personally I find Shoveltusks annoying with their screetching andI sure as heck dont wanna raid with someone having that. x.x;
Re: Mammoths, Elekks, Clefthoofs, Stags, Zhevras and others
I believe Kalliope realizes that and her only point was that there's no "lore" impediment to having them tameable. Whether or not Blizzard make them tameable is upon their whim. Along similar lines, anyone who has explored Deepholm on the beta will have noticed that the humanoid NPCs there tame basilisks as pets. Hopefully it's a sign that Blizzard are thinking of allowing the same thing for players.Taluwen wrote:also theres the note that Wolvar's aren't playable. What Wain said is very much accurate.Wain wrote:I believe Kalliope realizes that and her only point was that there's no "lore" impediment to having them tameable. Of course, that's all additional info. I was originally responding to your post, Taluwen:

You've never heard of emergency rations ?

Makes perfect sense, actually.Taluwen wrote:

If they had carnivorous pets, they'd have to share their food. And as Necrie pointed out, in an emergency they can eat their pets. Some native-american tribes used horses in much the same way.

Whether shoveltusks make sense as pets, or not - they already are.
Precedent established.

They do seem to make sense as pets, too, at least for the wolvar. *nods a couple of posts back* I really really like that.

Herbivores can be just as, or even more dangerous, than carnivores. Hippopotamuses kill more people that crocodiles, lions, and other African predators combined. Zebras are pretty vicious fighters and will even bite at enemies and predators in addition to kicking. And I think the size and power of elephants goes without saying

Not to mention, we already have tortoise pets, and they are herbivores.Ellaran wrote:Herbivores can be just as, or even more dangerous, than carnivores.
