Find the Pit Bull game!
The quiz in the first link has been printed up several times and taken to pro pit bull events to help educate people. It is fun, and really opens your eyes to how many breeds are confused with pit bulls.

Re: Find the Pit Bull game!
Nice, going to have to show these to the family next time someone says something about aggressive dogs. They just talked my sister out of getting a "nanny dog" a little while ago because it might "attack the baby" once she has it. They ended up gettign a mini pinscher with a nipping problem and mild food aggression instead... *face palm*
Got all of them on the first try! \o/

All the pit bull breeds were bred for zero human aggression, in the fighting ring dogs that bit or showed aggression towards the handler was killed. Most breeds will lash out at people when in pain, but pit bulls were bred not to, people had to get up close and "judge" in fights without getting bit themselves.
Sorry I am a rambler, I am full of info.
I watched the documentary "Off the Chain" and researched from several sites on dog fighting. It is horrible.
Re: Find the Pit Bull game!
I saw something like that on "Animal Cops" in Animal Planet. They arrested a bunch of these people for holding a pit bull arena just for their enjoyment. After the arrest, all the pit bulls were rescued, although some did have to be euthanized and so did a poor cat that was barely alive. They buried the feline at the place they found it.
The way pit bulls are trained for amusement is just wrong. As much as they are aggressive, they can also be the sweetest things in the world. Only in the right hands will they be trained to not be as bad as people think, even if that tiny strand of aggression still lingers around.

Re: Find the Pit Bull game!
Great stuff.
Although I'm still in full disagreement that they say Pit bulls aren't a breed. Because ................... they are. No I'm not looking to, nor am I going to start the debate on this one. The American Pit Bull Terrier is a legitimate breed and has been recognized as such since the early 1900's with the earliest known documentation of a dog in 1896. That was long before the other "bullies" were even remotely in the US. As a matter of fact the breed just had a segment on Animal Planet on the show Dogs 101.
Again not trying to start a debate just stating plain and simple fact.
Great fun though. #16 is a Catahoula!!!!
I've done /seen the test before.

Oh that dogs 101 was bad, they said they just "Snap" no dogs just snap, they give clear warnings. Unless they are injured or have some sort of mental illness. I was a bit disappointed in it.
I am not trying to debate either but I just wanted to say. Nobody, Nobody is saying that the American Pit bull Terrier is not a breed, it obviously is, but the term "pit bull" blankets several different breeds. In BSL several dogs count as "pit bulls" including Bull Terriers.
I adore American Pit bull terriers, every thing from their looks to their eager to please personality, they can be full of energy and ready to go, but calm and quite at the same time.
My next dog will be a rescued APBT or APBT mix.
Edit: Also an interesting thing I forgot to mention.
The reason why many sites have pit bull bites so high is because there are several different breeds that are counted as "pit bulls"
I know Wikipedia is able to be changed by anyone, but this page does show how the bite statistics are higher because the different breeds are all put under "pit bull".
So in reality, "pit bull" bite statistics are unfairly produced.

*side note* My cousin worked for wiki for awhile, if any false information, or false pages are made they are deleted and the makers are banned for a period of time.

Re: Find the Pit Bull game!
This is Brooklyn, my Mom's APBT mix (we think she's mixed with a Labrador, we're not sure).
Brooklyn is *the* gentlest dog I've ever met. She loves absolutely everyone, and spends most of time when I come home from university trying to lick me. She hardly ever even barks, and wags her tail so much I swear one day she's going to take off like a helicoptor.
She's even gentle around my little, one-and-a-half year old niece, Angela (supervised at all times, of course -- she's still an animal). Last time she was over, Angela tried to ride Brooklyn like a horse, and stole a doggie cookie right out of Brooklyn's mouth and ate it herself (we're not telling my sister about that one). Brooklyn didn't so much as whine. She just wagged her tail some more and gave more kisses.
My family lives in Ontario, where breeding pit bulls is illegal, and all currently living ones have to be spayed/neutered and licenced, or the government can take them away. All because of the misconception that this particular breed is some kind of violent killing machine.
Does this look like a vicious monster to you?
No one dog can be singled out. There are plenty of other breeds out there that have the potential to do harm, but aren't picked on like Pit Bulls are.
Every dog, no matter the breed, is only as good, or as bad, as its owner.
