Gondria!

Unread post by Falcon »

I apologize for not posting in a while, but I realize that I'm more comfortable mainly being a lurker than being active, the downside of being shy it is.

A few hours ago, I managed to tame Gondria on Zerai, my only other hunter who's currently level 80 after a week of looking, and I found him padding about at the edge of the mammoth god's temple, whose name of which escapes me right now. A few days ago, I read a comment stating that 'one's brain turns to mush when you run into a spirit beast' and they were right. I totally forgot to lay down a freeze trap before tagging Gondria and hitting Tame Beast, and if this works, here's a screenshot of my alt flailing from having a big ghostly tiger leap on her.

I named him (yeah, Gondria is a 'he' to me) Niall, after one of my favorite characters from Melissa Marr's 'Wicked Lovely' books and I love him to bits. And I find it highly amusing how the two feline spirit beasts ended up leading to extremely lucky events for me shortly after acquiring them. Toph tamed King Krush the day after she tamed Loque and now, hours after Zerai tames Gondria, I come on to learn that the blue blighthounds will be tamable come Cata! Eeeee!

Now if only the Horseman would be nice and finally give me his mount... ¬_¬

Grats on your tame! Let's hope he brings you a litte mount luck as well eh? ;)

And a lot of our posters here lurk. Hell, I lurk. The only reason my post count is so high is because of our Pokemans roleplay.

Thanks everyone! Seeing his picture suddenly pop up from my targeting macro nearly gavem e a heart attack, since I wasn't expecting to run into him so fast. @_@

@ Moonlost: Thank you, I'm hoping so, that horse has caused me a lot of grief since Hallow's End started, but if it doesn't drop, I won't be as disappointed anymore since I've got Niall. And your avatars really are lucky! I'm tempted to ask you for one of a white silithid (the reaver/battletank model) 'cause I've been wanting one of that color forever. XD

@Gungnir: All I did was fly over his known spawnpoints on and off, and having either a targeting macro or an addon such as NPCScan or SilverDragon really helps (though they'll make you jump ten feet in the air when they go off!). Also, a map of them on hand really helps when you're still learning where they are, like this map somebody from these boards made, I hope this helps: http://g.imagehost.org/0335/GondriaHunt.png

To everyone still looking for this pretty purple kitty, I wish you the best of luck! And to the person who made that map, thank you so much for it, it helped me a lot!

I just had a REALLY REALLY strong feeling someone was up on my home server and couldn't tell who it was.

Turned out to be Gondria, at the spot I always see her at.

I think it was this thread that summoned her. <3

Grats, and I just wanted to say it's amusing that you chose Niall for the name, I was pondering naming my Humar after him XD

@Kalliope: That's awesome that she was up when you went to check, and who knows, maybe it did!

@Suicune: Thank you! And Zerai's got a Wicked Lovely theme running with three of her pets. There's Niall, then she also has Rae (Arcturis) and Aislinn (vampiric duskbat).

Grats! Gondria was my sloppiest SB tame by far... I died not once, not twice, but 3 times* due to stupid placement of freeze trap and not bothering to clear nearby trash first... but somehow no one came along, and finally I pulled it off. Normally I consider myself pretty good at solo-huntering but this was a raging noob-a-thon...

*This was also the only SB I died taming, just for the record... ;)

:P J/k, I died taming Arcturis, thankfully it was right after the tame went off. That spirit strike thing hurts! Well I was level 75, too, so I didn't have much HP.

Grats Toph! Gondria is my favorite SB of them all, and I about pooped too when I saw her on my screen when I logged in one day. I logged off and on in the same spot every day, by the stairs by Mamtoth's Crater. I just knew that was where I'd see her, and I was right! :3

Your Niall is a very handsome boy indeed. ;)

And yeah...My post count's doubled because of that RP. Before that, it was just forum games, along with the occasional helpful comments...

@Worba: Thank you! Out of curiosity, were you Gondria's level at the time? I'm glad you got 'im in the end without anything else happening! I /always/ have that dread feeling of somebody else coming out of the woodwork to mess my tame up when I'm looking for rares. Currently, I'm trying to help my boyfriend nab Gondria for his own hunter, but no luck as of yet.

@Rhyela: Thanks, and yes it does! @_@ I've had the experience of dying right after taming a rare, too, so I know how you feel. It was Old Cliff Jumper way back in Vanilla, though it was one of his buddies who did me in along with my own giddiness getting in the way of rational thinking. I still have him on my Orc huntress, and I'll never part with him, as he's the second rare I've ever gotten, Azzere the Skyblade being the first. And I admit that before getting my own, Gondria was my least favorite spirit beast, but now I love them all equally.

@Azunara: Thanks! Pokemon RP? That sounds like it's a lot of fun.

I've got Skoll and possibly Ghostcrawler left now, but they'll be for my future goblin huntress come Cataclysm. And I still don't have the Horseman's mount (bah), but this morning, Toph ended up getting his sword instead. O_o But at least for the last three days, I'll get to use his own pumpkin army against him. >:) Muahahaha.

Oh, heck yes!

Queue derail! *places penny on train tracks.*

It started with Magna launched an RP. Two side, basic war RP. Legendaries, normal pokemon, humans, everything was involved. It went for a month or two, lasted almost 400 pages before winding down.

Then, I just had to get a good idea...

Our current RP, Rise of the Shadows, is roughly 450 pages in, and still going fairly strong. Real fun. Swing by RP forums and check it out. We love fresh mea-er, people. :D

Grats on your Gondria tame! She- or he- is just so incredibly beautiful, screenshots don't do her/him justice really!

Gungnir wrote:Been looking for Gondria for a few days now. Any tips from those that have tamed already? Im sure offpeak hours are best, but your recommendations are appreciated :D
Gondria seems to be the most common Spirit Beast, at least she is for me. I've seen her four times, and tamed her twice on two different hunters. I have never camped Gondria. Casual, spur-of-the-moment looking is how I find this lovely cat. I usually make only 1-2 rounds of looking before flying off to do other things.
I've found her at all different times as well- twice in the afternoon, once in the late morning, and late night/early morning. Random fly-bys will eventually snag this kitty for you, and won't stress you out either!
Those are my reccomendations, at least! Good luck!!

@Azunara: I'll probably come have a look, I love that franchise, but I dunno yet if I'll end up participating or not.

@Ikult: You're right about that, though I feel it holds true for all the spirit beasts. He's been a rare sight for me while Skoll and Loque have been incredibly common (not in the wild, I've yet to see Skoll in his natural habitat). Seems like the Spirit Beast Ratio varies from server to server.

Took me too long to get 4/5 of my pets (WAY before patch) which were all the spirit beasts. the 5th was krush, i realized i didnt want 4 of the same pet so i dumped all but loque, i felt bad about it then about 6 or 7 days later i heard how many stable slots we were getting. i was heart broken, now i cant get any of the others again but i found loque again. (this time a dk killed him when i found him)

You can ask a GM to restore Hunter pets that you have tamed before. I was able to have the ghostly Hydra (crocodile) pet revived this way- Bubbles lives again by Ikult's side, making stompy noises and gushing over his mistress.

Be very polite, and explain that you regret letting your pets go but had to make room- THEN found out about the stable slots, and would very much enjoy having them back again. Be honest about letting them go intentionally to make room, and be gracious in asking this favour. Also, try to remember what you named your pets you let go- that's how my GM found Bubbles, by his name. :)

Good luck!!

NPCScan.Overlay, the best mod there is for ultra-rare spawn point/pathing on your map. I've used this baby since I installed NPCScan and I haven't regretted it since. Tho, when you add rares yourself to the list their spawnpoints/paths wont just magically appear tho. You still gotta check out sites like WoWHead.com and just circle around the respective sites.
