Skoll on Velen
I really really really want Skoll, but have had no luck. Would anyone be willing to share some taming info? Like realm time tamed on Velen? I've been camping the disc every chance I get, but RL intrudes. LOL Thanks in advance.

Re: Skoll on Velen
I recently tamed Skoll for myself, and it was one of the longest camping sessions I've ever done for a pet. That said, I think it was completely worth it and the rush I had when I finally spotted him doesn't compare to any other high.
I'm sure you're already aware of his 3 spawn points. The thing is, you just have to be patient. There's not really any tips or clues we can give you other than persistence.
If you're not using the addon NPCscan I highly recommend getting that. It will alert you when a rare is spotted, and in the case of Skoll it allows you to minimize the WoW window (making sure you have the sound enabled in background) and do other things while going back occassionally to prevent yourself from going AFK.
It seems that the spawn point by the disc above the village is indeed the most common and popular, so if you're settling for just one spot then that's probably a good one. When I was camping for him I had my boyfriend's account logged in and his character hovering over the spawn point in Snowdrift Plains. That way I could watch 2 of the 3 points simultaneously.
Anyways, good luck! I'm sure you'll find him eventually. ^^

Re: Skoll on Velen
I do have NPCscan and the overlay. I try to camp as much as I can, but work always seems to interfere. Hopefully a hunter from Velen can pipe in with a time it was tamed so I can narrow it down a bit.

Re: Skoll on Velen
Even if you do get a time, truthfully they're not very helpful. Rare spawns are on incredibly random timers. Skoll's timer changes sporadically each time he pops, so other than give you the vaguest idea, it won't do you much good. ^^;
It's all about luck and perseverance. I had to dedicate a whole day to camping him. It was on the weekend, and I just woke up in the morning, camped myself down, and sat there for 10 hours. Then I got him.

Re: Skoll on Velen
Gotcha... so the reports I've heard of up to a 23 hour spawn and spawn times of as little as 5 minutes are true.
Oh well... back to camping.

*nods* Sadly it can be that random.
I think minimum is usually 6-8 hours, but don't quote be on that. Everything seems to be mostly speculation when it comes to times. ><

Re: Skoll on Velen
Took me 15 hours, and indeed found him by the disc.
Best bet is to let people know in General ur after him, and dedicate a day to camping it. People in general will generally be nice, and help you if they see him.
Get guildies to monitor the other spawn locations if they are bored. I stayed up pretty much an entire night staring at empty snow for skoll, but everyone in general knew me by the end (TLPD campers
). It worked really well, they all cheered for me when he finally popped.
I had guildies monitoring all spawns for about 4-5 hours, but nothing. He finally popped on a random loop in hour 15 right next to the disc

Re: Skoll on Velen
Actually, yes, I agree to have some friendly conversation in General chat.
When I was hunting for Skoll I'd ask in General about every half hour or so if anyone had seen or heard of him. Some people that were in the area mining or looking for the Time Lost Proto Drake started to recognize my name since I was there for so long. I got to chatting with a few and I made some good 'camping' friends who told me they'd be sure to tell me if they saw him.
I also told them that if I saw the TLPD I'd let them know since I didn't really want it (I like my green proto drake better). Just make sure you're not like 'OMG LET ME KNOW WHEN SKOLL IZ UP I WANT 2 TAME HIM', if you're polite and just letting people know you're after him, most people would tell you instead of killing him for a meager reward.

Thats what convinced some of my guildeys to help me, the fact they could have the TLPD if I saws it
Same in General, Some of them were hunting other rares in the zone, so we all made a deal to help each other out. I made some good friends that night, still talk to them

Re: Skoll on Velen
So I'm getting ready to go into ICC on a guild raid, and my friend whisps me to get to frosthold asap because he's with Skoll. So I bow out of the raid, hearth to dal, fly to frosthold, and what do I see? SKOLL! Except when I go to tame him, he's tagged to my friend. Now, by the time I get there, there are several toons waiting around to see him. My friend feigns death, and I start taming away. Then this moron starts attacking him and kills him! He says "Karma" and hearths off. I was SO pissed. I'm still angry if you can't tell. lol Guess I should be happy that I saw him in the wild. Oh who am I kidding... I'm going to be pissed at this for a while now.

Re: Skoll on Velen
HOW can some people be such jerks? Does it really give them some sort of real-life pleasure knowing they gave someone a hard time for no reason? I'm really sorry to hear that. Hopefully you get him soon.
