Loque'nahak

Unread post by Adam-Savage »

So I was doing a round looking for King Krush when I noticed Loque'nahak just pacing back and forth in one of his spawns zone. I stopped and admired his beauty for a second then announced in General I found him ( I already have him). I got a reply from a hunter about half a minute later asking me where. I invited him into a group and stayed on top of Loque'nahak untill he got there. I stayed with him to make sure he got the tame. He was pretty darn happy needless to say after! I knew I made his day but I didn't know just how much till I was talking in guild chat with another hunter.

She mentioned she ran into the very same hunter why she was looking for Arcturis. He took out Loque'nahak and showed him to the guildie hunter and mentioned someone from the guild helped him tame him. Apparently he wants to join the guild now.

Awwww, that's soooo nice :) Defiantly need more people like you playing WoW. Helping others makes the game a lot of fun, and that was an awesome thing to do. I'm sure you did make his day.

Good job :)

This...
Just saw him literately 5 minutes ago. Couldn't believe my luck, landed and started taming him. When my tame is about half way through, a death knight from the other faction death grips him and ganks me. More alliance show up, and the keep ganking me and keeping it alive for a few minutes, until a 4th alliance shows up to kill him for Northern Exposure. WHO kills Loque'nahak for Northern Exposure? Out from the tame of a hunter? Twats.

Edit: First time I've ever come across a spirit beast too.

Hey, watch your language, friend.

Back on topic.
That's pretty awesome what you did. Helping people out like that. That's how hunters should behave, instead of the more commonly observed rudeness.

Okay. I can understand being angry people griefing you. I understand that. In that case, you are in all means in the right. People should not grief others.

HOWEVER.

It is another statement of yours that I have to pick on, because it is an argument that has bothered me for a bit. Namely, "WHO THE F*CK kills Loque'Nahak for the Northern Exposure?" And the answer is, if someone comes across the spawn, randomly pathing, tamable or not, for an achievement, they have every right to kill it. Every right.

Do you know why?

Because while you're excited you just tamed your pet, that pally who swooped in to check it out but held off? He's been looking for Loque for weeks. Months. He's the last rare he needs. But he can never kill him because some hunter gets there first, or he gets a huge sh*tstorm from EVERY SINGLE local hunter who catches him nearby, and they swoop down to protect the rare.

Ever look at it in another perspective? So next time you sit there raging because you saw some guy kill the spirit beast you don't need, think about the guy who just saw you tame the beast he needs.

This counts for Skoll, as well. Rares aren't there for hunters, they're for everyone. So sure, Skoll isn't an achievement wolf, but that doesn't mean people don't want a free blue and an easy 20 gold. If they get there first, let them have it. Don't sit and be upset they killed it, even though you needed it. Just move on.

And as I said, people griefing and stealing your mobs? I can see as a bit upsetting and justifiable. Otherwise, live with it.

I agree with your statement for the most part, Azunara, but the three spirit beasts that are in the game besides Loque'nahak were actually put there for hunters to tame. To give us that feeling of really hunting something special, if I remember correctly. I could swear I've seen a blue post on this. That doesn't make them "ours", of course, but I can definitely see hunters becoming sad or upset when Skoll, Arcturis or Gondria are killed, and I think that they are justified in that feeling. Even though that does not, of course, give the hunters any right to yell at the spirit beast killer in question. :) However, anyone who ganks a tame away from a hunter is, in my book, an incredibly rude and inconsiderate person. And I think that any person subjected to that has every right to be upset. If the non-hunter was there first and killed it? That's of course completely fine, even though they probably have a lot more to gain from, for example, selling the location of a spirit beast spawn. Or just giving it to a hunter in exchange for that nice, fuzzy feeling you get when being nice. They could have gained a friend or some money. But that is, of course, their choice.

Oddly enough, I like that others can interfere with a rare beast tame, or that they can be killed if you're not in place quickly enough, even though I've personally had Loque'nahak ganked out of my own hands mid-tame. I was angry and sad for a moment, sure, but then I felt only excitement that after a week of searching, I had finally seen him. That meant that he existed, and that I could find him again. Which I did, two days later.
The fact that they are vulnerable added to my excitement when looking for these beasts, and pumped in some extra adrenaline every time I've found them and tamed them. But I'm sure that most don't have as much time to spend looking for the spirit beasts as I do, in which case a ganked tame becomes a bigger deal. Most would probably prefer that the beast should be made unkillable and impossible to take aggro from while taming. Which I think might be practical, but not as exciting. :D

On Topic:

And now that I got that out of the way, I have to say that that was a wonderful thing you did, Adam. I wish there were more nice people like you around on my server. :)

I just hope that if and when I find him, I can keep a level enough head to tag him before I begin the tame. I really want to keep drama to a minimum and if people can't gain Northern Exposure or loot from him, then there is less incentive for them to grief the hunter attempting to tame him.

Congratulations to that hunter! I really do hope they remove the achievement for rares. that said, the 25g vendor trash and making hunters annoyed is probably enough for most people. :/ I know, I know, rares aren't there for hunters, but dangit.

Edit: And yes, I got cheesed when some paladin was like 'lol killed Skoll for the 7th time, no good loot lol'. Thanks a lot, butthat. Go bubble yourself off a cliff. Then he wonders why he can't find TLPD. It's karma! No drake for you.

Nooooo. I'm an achievement nut, and I haven't gotten the rare ones yet. Granted I wouldn't rush in and kill a rare tamable if someone is trying to tame it, but I don't think I have much against killing the rare if no ones around.

And I probably would announce that he's there before I kill him just to give someone the chance to tame him, but you better believe if someone shows up that's non-hunter, that rare is dead because I want the achievement :P I can see both sides of the previous argument, To Kill or Not To Kill. But I guess I'm a little more on the side that it's fair game if you got there first because I was lucky enough to have tamed all the rare spirit beasts. (Granted people in my guild were freaking out at my first tame cause I didn't even know it was special. I was new to WoW.)

But what AdamSavage was a nice very nice thing to do, and I would be overly excited if someone did that for me. I'm currently still looking for rare pets, for a friend.
