Pets and mounts
This topic for sure has had to come up on the Petopia Site before but since Scanning through 2-3 pages of each sub forum and not finding one I thought I would post it since it has come to mind again recently to me since the release of 4.0.3a. I have always have wished that blizzard would make it so when you mount up your pet would stay out and run/walk with you, Since 4.0.3a release and taming both my mastiff name Winston and my big brain bug IE the Hive Controller I am been more inclined to walk everywhere on foot just so I could look at my awesome new pets more. Just wondering how many others have wished that they could have there pets out when on there mount too, and are also mesmerized by there new pets.
Re: Pets and mounts
Well unless fixed, there is a glitch that allows us to be mounted (ground or flying) and have our pets out at the same time. I believe it involved accepting a BG queue while dismounted, and when the BG is finished, you must be on your mount. When you are ported back to where you accepted the queue, your pet *should* be out with you mounted next to it. Naturally the pet is also not controllable and will not attack anything.

Re: Pets and mounts
I've found another way to "trick" your pets into following you while mounted -- jump from your own mount onto a friend's two-seater, like the Touring Rocket. When Lydeea got a ride from a guildie yesterday, her crocolisk, Iracebeth, stayed out, and ran behind the rocket. She was automatically put on passive, so didn't attack anything, and the rest of the pet buttons, while visible, were greyed out. Still, it's cool to see a crocolisk waddling as fast as her six legs can take her behind a rocket.
It would be cool to show off our pets this way on our own mounts, but it could also cause troubles, like it did for my bf's mage, when he forgot to dismiss his elemental before taking off on an epic flyer in Northrend. The elemental would follow along on the ground, aggroing everything, until he was far enough away that it would despawn.
Maybe a compromise would be to have the option whether or not to have pets out while mounted, and for ground pets to be automatically dismissed when flying, but I think, realistically, the current system's probably going to stay.

Re: Pets and mounts
Ah the good old days...
For those 'less-seasoned' players, this was originally what hunter (and warlock) pets did. It was removed some time into BC when the pets would stay on the ground when you had a flying mount.
Shame they never got around to changing it so that it works as it used to for ground mounts, but they disappeared on flying mounts (unless a flight capable pet perhaps).
