Lucky Lucky in Northrend

Unread post by mascarecrow »

I let Arcturis go earlier... and regretted it. I filled out a ticket asking for him back and started the camp again. So I been flying between the Basin trying to find the damn parrot and Grizzly Hills trying to get the damn bear...

So, earlier today I died a couple times trying to tame the damn Turtle (not enough health on me yet) and had to watch a Dranai hunter with a healer friend get him. I logged out at Arcturis's site and after running on my druid all night, logged in to check and guess who's in front of me? Yep, the damn bear. Tamed him and flew over to the basin real quick to check and guess who greets me barely half way through my pat? So now I have finally tamed the last of the Northrend rares and have full stables that will have to be culled to find room for Cata Rares LOL

No complaints tho, awesome night!

My first camp for him was a couple days if that helps any. I been logging in and out and checking his site for about a week to score him last night. Keep at it, he'll spawn.

Be sure to edit your ticket that you no longer need him or else you'll have two Arcturis hehe.

14 hours is nothing compared to the people who camp for months without seeing the rare they want.

14 hours sitting in one spot is not the same as trying to find a rare that people like to kill and who spawns in a number of different locations.

I spent a full 4 months hunting Loque. 14 hours aint nothing.

Congrats on getting him back. A stable glitch when they first released the new stables had my Gondria and another pet disappear. I was most upset-got them back but I was sad there for awhile.

4 months of random fly bys doesnt impress me it just shows you didnt want it bad enough to sit for it
oh and i caught loqu my second day of being 80 and i didnt even want it that bad

and no i can not say grats to someone who dumped a rare spawn to make room
just to go back and catch it again. all that did was take it from someone whos never had it

sorry to be rude but im the one who got attacked on this page first and so now i speak my mind

There is no "right" or "impressive" way when it comes to searching rares. I've ran into several of them while not even really looking for them actively, the bear for example. Krush was one of the pets I really properly camped on, and it took me around 8 hours of nonstop fly camping his spots. Old Cliffjumper, took me probably two days, and I'm sure I missed him once or twice during that time because my NPC-scan wouldn't ring when he was close.
I'm always happy for everyone who manages to catch a rare (and thrilled if I can be of help in that process), no matter if it was just a fluke and you happened to be in the right place at the right time, and even more so if they had been looking for it for a long time. As long as the catch doesn't involve griefing or stealing.

Don't be rude towards others if you don't happen to share their opinion. I'm sure you'll catch your rare eventually. :) Never give up!

Or that people might have RL that keeps them from being on the computer 12+ hours at a stretch. Like she said, there's no 'right' way to do it. I ran into Aotona a second time and gave her to someone. Jadefang and madexx too. Some of us HAVE sat for days on end for many, many weeks to no avail and it's very heartbreaking. No one is attacking you and GMs don't always restore released pets. I wish you all the luck catching your rares.

well im just stupidly lucky when it comes to rares.
when i hit 80 i caught every LK rare in less then a week
and 5 mins after i hit 85 i got ghostcrawler and 30 mins after him i found sambas

but on my last hunter i looked for months for king krush and never found him so yes i do know the feel of looking for a long time for a pet and not ever find it

but that is no reason to attack me for saying it made me sad that someone dumped a rare pet
im the one who got bitched at not the other way around
im sorry if you have bad luck but thats no reason to bitch me out for your bad luck
my first post said simply this

this make me sad that someone dumped a rare spawn that i had to wait a long time for

and that for some reason earned me trolls trying to start fights about who waited for what

Um. We're not trolls. :/ No one attacked you for saying it was sad to dump a rare spawn and certainly no one's bitching. Before 4.0, hunters could only /have/ 5 hunter slots. It's sad to ditch one for say, raiding. Sometimes pets don't click. I detest camping myself, but then - I also have limited playtime. *shrugs* Sometimes that's how it goes.

First of all, let me say: Grats!! I'm glad you got your old friend back. I have also abandoned rares (Mosh, Loque and Arcturis) only to regret it later so I know how nice it feels to finally reconnect with your friend. :)

But to Vegitø, I have a few words. I can see that you are new here. As someone who has been in this community for a while (not as long as some, but still enough to know things) let me give you a word of advice. It doesn't matter if you had to wait 14 hours for Arc to spawn, because this post is not about you. It's one thing to congratulate and share stories, another thing entirely to say someones new tame makes you upset because you weren't so lucky. Posts in other peoples taming threads should be positive and supportive of the person. If you don't like it, then don't comment, or at least say congrats.

Just because someone releases a rare doesn't mean they are any less deserving of retaming it. Sometimes people don't click with a pet at first, only to realize how much they missed it once it was gone, sometimes there isn't enough room in the stables, or sometimes rares can be realized on the fly for another rare. They still are just as entitled to taming that rare again as any other hunter.

Not everyone has the time to sit in one place for hours on end to get a pet. Circling over the course of days, weeks, months, is JUST as impressive than sitting still in one place. Both take time, patience and effort. You are NOT better than someone else because you had to camp for your pet. This kind of attitude will not get you supporters or friends on this forum.

Anyways sorry for going along with the derail, I just felt I had a few things to say. I don't think its fair for hunters to act better than other hunters because of how they tamed their pet. Once again, congrats Mascarecrow on getting back your Arcturis, I'm glad you weren't stuck camping until your eyes bled to get him back! :)

So we're trolling because we said it's just as equal to fly around looking for a pet as it is to sit in one spot and camp mindlessly?

Not to mention the time frames? Fourteen hours has nothing on the people who have been looking for rares for months to years.

It doesn't take much to sit at one spawn point of a rare for hours on end. In fact, it takes nothing more than NPC_Scan/SilverDragon and you to either tab out or have dual screens.

As someone who's tamed Loque three times, the first two being nothing but mindless camps (and I call them mindless because majoritively, for me, they were). Took me a week each time to get him. Third time I flew regularly around the basin leveling mining and I got him in three days.

My boyfriend on the other hand got three out of the four northrend spirit beasts on lucky chance just by doing random fly byes on their points. Everyone's different and EVERY hunter is entitled to these pets should they want them.

We're not "trolling" or attacking you in anyway, we're saying that any time spent looking for a rare is valued time, whether it's random chance or years, you have no right to judge that.

Note the bold. Very sad, because you had to wait so long. As in, upset that it took you so long to find Arcturis. It took you a long time (unlucky) whereas it took the OP a short time (lucky).

Therefore your are slightly upset that the OP's wait time was shorter than yours to tame a rare.

This quote - particularly the bolded piece- and the general attitude of your posts is what is giving me (and I assume, others) the
impression that you view yourself as better than anyone who a) obtained rares differently than you or b) has tamed rares multiple times.

i dont care what you think you see in my post. bolding out my words and saying what you think i ment by them doesnt say anything about me it says something about you

"the general attitude of your posts is what is giving me (and I assume, others)"

and theres my point its what you think you see in my post not what i really said
so stop trying to fight with me about something i didnt say

and your telling me thats its wrong to not like the fact someone dumped a rare spawn?
and again i never said anywhere in my post that she was more lucky then me this is something
only you see in my post

so im sorry if hearing of someone dumping a rare makes me sad and i said something and that made you think you saw somewhere in my post that i think im better then you or that i think im unlucky. what this tells me about you is you need to stop looking for things that are not there
