Camping Ghostcrawler, Ugh

Unread post by Warfish »

Ugh, because that are is so barren and empty, there is nothing to do or gain whilst sitting there waiting.

No mods to kill (level up other pets).

No mobs to kill (for skinning/LW'ing)

Can't fish (underwater, lol).

And on my realm at least, six other Hunters camping.

Ugh.

I feel your pain! I myself have begun to camp for Mr. Ghostcrawler..I saw him get tamed two minutes before I got there, because a friend had spotted him and I was omw there when it happened...and I have not seen him since..That was about 2 or so days ago? I wish you lots of luck. I hope he spawns for both of us soon. :)

I'd suggest searching along the very rims of that region, i found him roaming very close to the edge.

Worse, add in the jackasses who tame G.C., then bring him back and pull him out just to blow other Hunters NPCScans. Often on the same side as your own toon too.

Add that to beign an actual adult who only has limited hours to play most times, and rare-hunting takes on a whole other special meaning when/if you get them.

Hell, after months of effort, I never did get Arcturis. But this Crab WILL be mine. I like Crabs.

Ghostcrawler is what convinced me to tame rares--I hadn't really liked any of the other spirit beast models.

At least with GC, NPCscan isn't really necessary--I tamed him just using track beasts.

Hang in there, you'll get him--it should be easier once the holiday break is over.

in all honesty if you only have limited hours to play i would simply do something else, especially if you see that 6 other hunters are camping him as well. if you can be patient, wait a couple weeks, but thats just what i would do and my opinion

If you still want Arcturis, you probably have a higher chance getting him now that a lot of hunters have moved to Cataclysm areas for lvling/gearing/taming.
If there are so many camping GC at the time on your server, that's where I'd place my bets.
Fortunately on my server there hasn't been a bunch of hunters camping and I have various toons, so I could let my hunter stay there while I'd do other things on another toon, then come back to check the spawn later on.
If you're really having that many problems with people trying to bugger your NPC scan, turn it off. It's not required there at all, he's a passive and will be the only yellow on your map that goes in that specific area. I don't use NPC scan, I use SilverDragon and haven't had issue with other peoples tames messing it up so far, so if you really want an 'alert' mod, then maybe try that for now.

If you can, park your toon there the night before. I've had luck with many rare spawns by logging on a fast 10 minutes before work and doing a loop. There's a few advantages to this:

1) Not many are up early on weekdays.
2) Few competition in general
3) If it had spawned earlier that morning, it is likely to be up. ESPECIALLY if it is in an out of area place like the reef.

Just food for thought. :D

Best of luck on your star-crab!

I'm sorry to hear all this badness happening to you out there. Luckily for me I could mine at least with the few nodes out there.

Arcturius could easily be yours just do what I did and make a daily run through northrend. I wasn't really looking for anything else other than Loq and Skoll and ended up get Gondria, Skoll, Arcturius and King Krush just from doing a daily run through the areas.

I get sad when I got to the basin and know I have to reset my cache because someone has Loq out at all times...

You'll get the crab though just keep at it. What I can suggest is definitely log out there before getting off the game, thats how I ended up getting him myself. I logged in and he popped within about 10 minutes of me being there. Also, make sure you are prepared for a fight because he hits hard.
