Terrorpene tame gone wrong.
Second post here and i would just like to share my story.
So I was flying around in Hyjal for ore. When all of a sudden my NPC scanner goes off. I look around my heart speeding up. I never thought I would see him so soon and I had just leveled to 82. I spot him Buff up on food and a speed pot. Tag him and start taming. Bam! Dead because of a Rogue Interrupting the Tame. So i rez, buff up again, Tame. Almost get him that time but he killed me. Okay, i am determined now, one more time I go back to tame and in the middle of my tame here comes the Rogue again.
Terrorpene lies dead at my feet. I mourn for him as his death was pointless.
Terrorpene, Dead at 7:05 Moonguard-US.
After that i reported the death to general so that people wouldn't have to search in vain for him.
I will tame you Terrorpene. *rubs forums for luck*

People are really trigger happy when they see Terrorpene. I REALLY wish people would just wake up. If a hunter's taming, THEN IT'S MORE IMPORTANT THAN THE POSSIBLE DROP.
The hunter gets a pet for the rest of their playing career. The rare killer might get a drop that they vendor.

That rogue should have been able to kill Terrorpene before you rezzed. This qualifies as griefing if you ask me, and would be worth reporting. While Blizzard doesn't like banning clients, they don't like a client chasing off others due to griefing players in the game.

Actually I had a chat with a GM. It came up after the GM contacted me when I reported yet another naked superman flying blood elf [first was a damn lv 58 DK in storm peaks, next it was a naked belf in Hyjal T_T]
Anyways as much as the GM did hate the behavior of these people and wish he and evidently OTHER GM's could do something about, they can't because evidently the mob is 'free for everyone to have at', and as much as they wish they could deal with the mean and cruel people it unfortunately is not ban nor warn worthy.
So nbasically because the GM's specifically CAN'T do anything, these people are asshats and asshats knowingly.
Best we can do is suggest tamable rares specifically made for hunters, have an ability to deal twice/three times the amount of damage they would a hunter, to non hunter classes. Giving even a lv 85 a run for their money.
Oh and make it like nerfbat to boot.

He doesn't even drop anything I thought? Perhaps the Tear of Loyalty but that is worthless, isnt it?

Yes, but unfortunately most people don't consider/know that. Especially after the MMO champ spread on them right smack in the middle of the boe droppers. >< And Northrend/BC/Vanilla's trend of rares dropping blues/greens.

I Hope that people would research before they kill a rare spawn. And before I became a hunter I left people alone that were taming rares. Be they Horde or Alliance.LupisDarkmoon wrote:People are really trigger happy when they see Terrorpene. I REALLY wish people would just wake up. It may have been griefing. It may also have been stupidity. Because people that don't play hunters don't really know much about them. Right after this me and another hunter were chatting in General about various subjects like if you tame you should make it so that others cant interrupt you. Right after that someone said in chat roughly: So if i'm killing a mob and the hunter could use the invincible tame and let this mob kill me. Me and the other hunter said at the same time. Hunters cant tame Tagged mobs. It was hilarious. So I am just gonna chill and wait for Terrorpene to come to me.Cialbi wrote:That rogue should have been able to kill Terrorpene before you rezzed. That's a shame. If I were to experience some of these stories myself (I tend to get very lucky when it comes to other players), I honestly couldn't say whether or nor I would keep on renewing my subscription (there's a reason why I hardly ever post on the official forums). I'm paying to have fun and enjoy the game, and the main reason why I'm still enjoying the game is thanks to other players.Ryai wrote:Cialbi wrote:That rogue should have been able to kill Terrorpene before you rezzed. Re: Terrorpene tame gone wrong.

Ya know with all this hub-bub horrible problems people are having with Terrorpene, & other tames gone wrong, mostly on the Cataclysm tames, maybe, just maybe they'd make the Cataclysm Pets ONLY seen BY HUNTERS in the wild.
Right???? Only hunters can tame them, they drop nothing so... why not have them only visible *in the wild* by hunters? I like it hehe.

I'm too nice of a person to do crap like this to people. Even when I needed Loque'nahak on my priest for Frostbitten, I took great care to canvas for hunters inside of and even outside of the zone who might want to tame him first.
Re: Terrorpene tame gone wrong.
Technically, they -do- drop 25 gold. If I see Terrorpene, or Sambas, or any of them just cruising, and no hunters are out there, and I've asked the zone, my guild, and a few other chat channels...I'm going to kill the mob. Because why not? Someone else will likely do it if I don't, and I found it. I can do what I want with my found mob. Asking other hunters? A nice thing to do, not a necessary thing.Tilo wrote:

So make them phased. Make it so they're unkillable unless you're a hunter taming. And you have every other class complaining Blizz caters to hunters. And then they throw a fit and leave. And that's a lot of subscribers leaving. Yes, they only drop 25 gold. Maybe a skin or two. But rare mobs have always been for everyone. HOWEVER, I can understand your wish for that. I've had mobs stolen from me before.
Eh.
/2 cents. Not too coherent, it's early.

Re: Terrorpene tame gone wrong.
There should be a mechanic that after we cast tame, the beast becomes untaggable/untargetable? something? to anybody else while we are taming? Once we cast, the fight is between us and the beast. Not sure it can be done with the current game mechanics, but should not be that hard. Would still be way challenging: the beast can still knock us on our butts, stun us, stop our tames, etc. So, would not be a walk in the park, just keep griefing out of the picture while we have tame going.
And....I need a nap.

Re: Terrorpene tame gone wrong.
Yes and no. Currently yes you can tame tagged mobs, provided you can A) grab aggro, B) keep it and C) the mob doesn't get killed before the tame completes, e.g. tagged mob = unlikely tame but not impossible - for example I recently tamed Vultros that way when another hunter attacked him mid tame because he didn't see me initially; once he realized what was going on, he stopped attacking, I was able to regain aggro with distracting shot and resume my tame... even though he was now tagged.Neko wrote:Right after that someone said in chat roughly: So if i'm killing a mob and the hunter could use the invincible tame and let this mob kill me. So in your chatgoer's example yes the hunter could tame the mob, but only by making the mob attack him, and so the original target wouldn't be facing an invulnerable enemy... on the other hand, this would allow hunters to steal beast mobs midfight for purpose of taming, which could become a pretty nasty grief tool esp when used on quest mobs and etc, so to make the "protected tames" thing work, it probably would have to be changed to not work on tagged mobs (ofc then what happens when mobs get stuck in tagged state... etc etc)

Re: Terrorpene tame gone wrong.
im sorry to hear about this "(
someone had the idea that while a hunter is taming the "beast" gets a buff that makes them unattackable by anyone while it is being tamed.
i would love to see it happen

Re: Terrorpene tame gone wrong.
Has anyone tried taming Terrorpene in SV spec by wyvern stinging him? I'm camping Madexx and have been whittling away at my boredom by wyvern stinging the little scorpys and then taming them while they are sleeping. The tame works fine though they still end up with the dot part.
Figured I'd just throw this around in the Terrorpene thread closest to the top.
