Soloing Problim

Unread post by Kalliope »

I've been soloing Problim ever since I hit 85 and could do Tol Barad. Ursa (bear) tanks him like a pro; no need to kite...which is good since Problim can no longer be snared.

I've been bringing Pygmalion (croc) to TB lately, since his family ability gives me some PvP utility if I get jumped. However, he seems to get cuffed a lot harder by Problim than Ursa does. Guess that attack power debuff really makes a big difference!

Anyone else noticed a big difference between tanking pets on this particular elite?

I haven't tried my bear or my warp stalker, I have tried both terropene and madexx. I do think fire turtle didn't take quite as much damage but Both did very well tanking him.

I've used both Terrorpene and my beetle (the beetle was my first). Never tried to use anything else on him. I found him a fairly easy solo, though, with the shell-pets.

My warp stalker handled him with no trouble. :)

I just used a temp trash Crocolisk to take Problim down with.. no problem. I only needed the snare at times when I forgot to pop MD onto pet. Just keep spamming MD on the croc and you'll do fine. Also it could be you've not specced him for survivability. Do it. Last stand + Mend Pet at critical situations = BIG HEAL TICKS. I don't get why people are saying no don't talent it lately, do it!

It can save pets!

My pets are specced exactly the same (PvE tanking), which was why I started this thread. :) The family ability seems to make a big difference, at least for my pets. Ursa just doesn't take the spike damage Pygmalion does and I'd love to know if there's another factor I'm not considering there as to the cause.

Pity the snare won't work anymore. >_< Orpheus (spider) did pretty decently on kiting him a few times. :)

TBH the family ability wouldn't make that much of a difference. Why? Problim has an attack he loves to cast. Basically when it hits something it hits for CRAPLOADS of damage- demo roar afaik doesn't affect it. The one where he basically smashes you with a tree.

But aslong as you keep cower ready and mend pet up it really shouldn't be to much a problem thankfully.

Yeah, that smash never does anything noteworthy to Ursa. I can usually solo him without using more than Mend Pet. It's really a bit odd, considering that Pyg gets smooshed.

Could it be it's a glitch? That Demo Roar may affect Problim but to much? I mean if he's not doing anything noteworthy something is going on Oo

Well, if other people aren't having trouble with their crocs, maybe Pyg's suffering from some stealth talent point glitch or something and I should look into respeccing him, just to be safe.

tested terrorpene, flaming boar and ghost hydra(croc). specced the same. similar dmg taken. when they get the bonk debuff they seem to take a ton of dmg, a regular mend pet and cower seems to keep them up pretty well.

his log smash actually doesnt do much dmg, around 2500-2700 dmg.

The log smash doesn't do much damage because your pet is immune to 90% of AOE damage, and the smash is considered AOE. At least I'm pretty sure that's why. So for me, frankly, the log smash is the best time to top the pet back up. Not because the smash does so much damage, but because there's a long pause before they take the heavier melee damage.

My bear has still been fine since the patch. :) Gonna go respec my croc right now, even though he has the exact same spec, just in case.

My Ismat (Madexx) tanks him like a champ--mend pet and cower seem to do the trick. owo

And Pygmalion tanked him just fine today, so respeccing may have helped. I may have gone with a point in lionhearted instead of natural armor before (which I had forgotten), so if anything, THAT is the difference. :)

I solo him with ferocity pets lol. As long as you have MD and the mend pet glyph you're good to go.

i don't even have the Mend pet glyph on my main spec, and I still take him down no problem with a ferocity pet.
Wut?
