however, I just had to come out of hiding to tell someone about today. The gods must have been smiling on me today, and you'll soon understand why.
I just recently got back into the swing of leveling my hunter. I had stopped at 65 and not done it for awhile; I began to grow bored of my druid main, so I figure, "Why don't I start leveling my old hunter alt again?" So I got it up to 76, and then decided I would start hunting for my favorite pet in all of WoW; Loque'nahak.
I entered into Sholazar Basin on Friday afternoon, hopes high and ready to go well into the night questing and searching for Loque. I got to 77 that night, but no sign of the rare cat - there is a paladin, however, who has killed it recently and lets me know that he will help me try to find it.
Saturday I spend most of my day in Sholazar, finishing my quests and continuing to search for Loque'nahak. No sightings, not even of Aotona or King Krush. I end the day at 2am PST, disheartened by a day of not seeing even a single rare.
I log back into WoW this morning, ready to resume what I assume what will be just another fruitless day of searching for the cat. I patrol around Sholazar less frequently now, heading out to Storm Peaks every once in awhile to do some quests to break the monotony. Finally I sit at the easternmost spawn point, and take a break to go read a book. I come back in about twenty minutes, ask in General if anyone has seen him, and to my dismay a rogue has just killed him. I sigh, and ten head back out to Storm Peaks - killing High Thane Jorfus on my way out there, as my rare spawn tracking addons alert me to his presence the moment I set foot in Icecrown.
I wait three hours, then decide that if he doesn't appear on my next round that I will leave Sholazar and come back at 85 to see if I canget better luck. I an just about to finish my final patrol when SilverDragon and and NPCScan light up my screen like the fourth of July! Sure enough, there he is, sitting just North of the northwestern waterfall, with no mobs near him or anything. I nearly have a heart attack, but somehow I manage to land next to him, dismiss my current pet, and tame him without trouble. At last, Loque'Nahak is mine!
So then I head back to Dalaran to repair my gear and show off my pretty cat, who I have named Eskendal after the Paladin who helped me find him. And while I'm sitting there, NPCScan goes off again! Putridus the Ancient has spawned in Icecrown, and I rush out there to see if I can kill it. Alas, I get ganked by an 85 druid who then proceeds to kill it. Still, three rare spawns in a day is a lot, so I'm pretty happy to tell my friends of my experience.
I hit 80 a short while later, and head out to Hyjal. Then I realize I need to go get glyphs and training - so I hearth, only to realize a little too late that my hearth is still set to Sholazar Basin. I laugh at my mistake, and then decide "Well, as long as I'm here, I'll go check on the rare spawns."
So I head on over to Storm Peaks. Once I get there I ask in General "Has anyone seen Skoll lately?" One hunter replies "No, I just checked his spawn points about ten minutes ago, he's not there." Oh. Well okay. Not being one to trust many people on their word, I decide to go double check the spawn locations - and lo and behold, as I approach his final spawn location NPCScan and SilverDagon alert me to the presence of the one and only Skoll, ambling patiently around near the cliff! So I drop down, hands shaking, dismiss my current pet, and tame Skoll with no problem! I let the other hunter know, and he congratulates me.
So now I'm feeling pretty good about myself. Four rare spawns in one day, and two of them tameable! I go off to check the other spawn points, and I discover the Zul'Drak Sentinel has spawned, so I go and kill it, chalking up another point on my "Rares I've Seen Today In Northrend" tally.
Then my guild invites me to some random Cataclysm dungeons. I of course say yes, and go off on my merry way to do BRC, and then Throne of the Tides. In between this, I have moved down to Arcturis's spawn location, thinking that I'll check his place too while I'm at it. after the second dungeon, the tank and I decide to take a small break. I go upstairs to get food, and as I'm coming back downstairs to my room, I think to myself, "Wouldn't it be funny if Arcturis spawned right when I got back?" I sit down in my chair, pull my laptop over to me - and then NPCScan and SilverDragon go off, alerting me to the presence of the one and only Arcturis. I light down on the ground next to him, giddy with joy, and quickly dismiss my newly tamed Spirit Worg whom I have named Amaroq, and tame Arcturius without a hitch.
That makes six rares in one day, and three tameable rares to boot. I absolutely love my new loves, Eskendal, Amaroq and Coheed, my newly tamed spirit bear. The gods must have been smiling on me today.
TL;DR I got Arcturis, Skoll and Loque'Nahak in one day, and killed the Zul'Drak Sentinel and High Thane Jorfus.
