BM Love
Why is it that BM hunters are not given the love their deserve.
I think the whole point of a hunter is to use their pet.
People who go MM or Survival don't rely on their pet too much and I've even seen some not have one active.
I just think a few tweaks need to be put in place for BM hunters.
In raids and such I have had many people tell me what a great job I did and how I kept my pet tanking and alive!
I think not only does it take knowing your class but having some skill in how to play it!
Trust me I have seen some really really bad MM and Survival hunters when I have played!

Re: BM Love
I agree, it's not the spec but the player. All else being equal, though, MM and SV do pump out more dps at the moment.
That being said, unless you're in a hard core, min/maxing raiding guild, most let you run with the spec you prefer, exactly for the reason that you state. If you don't play the spec-du-jour well, you won't be putting out the numbers the spec "should" perform at.

Re: BM Love
I have BM/MM specs. I played MM for a while in instances, right after I hit 80. Because I was doing more damage! PewPewPew! But I missed playing BM. Then I got Gondria. Guess what? New toy must play with!
I'm lucky that the worst I hear is from my friend who clamors for the white devilsaur, not for me to switch to MM.
I look at playing BM well as a challenge, one that I want to meet. I can get good DPS as MM. I know this. It's not much of a challenge. I want to play the spec I want to play, so that means I have to work at doing it better.

Re: BM Love
I know what you mean, Val. When I raided on my hunter, I was BM for the first 2/3 of the time (Naxx and early Ulduar). I was also the first dps in our guild to break 5k, and I was damn proud of the fact that I produced competitive dps as BM. (I know BM has been nerfed since then, but at the time, MM was the go-to spec.)Valinai wrote:I look at playing BM well as a challenge, one that I want to meet. I can get good DPS as MM. I know this. I constantly challenge myself to do better, which is why I'm going to try out MM. I want to master all three specs (and I love SV, so BM's gotta go...) and be good at them all.

Re: BM Love
BM definitely needs some PvE buffs, I just wish Blizzard would make every spec for every class be viable in PvE and PvP
And for being the only viable ranged physical class, but pets are indeed one of our defining aspectsI think the whole point of a hunter is to use their pet.

Re: BM Love
The problem apparently is not that Blizz doesn't want to buff BM, it's that:
a) They want the damage increase to go to the hunter but not the pet as much. They don't like seeing pets do 40-50% of your total damage.
b) They're afraid if they buff the wrong thing, that Beastcleave(BM Hunter/Enhance Sham/I forget) will rule the arena again.
