Really all you can do is keep checking, there is no "Press button, get blue wolf". If you're not actively trundling on your Hunter right now, lap from the spawn point below Snowdrift to the blue ladies spawn point, head back, then log onto someone else when you're back at the first point. Otherwise you'll drive yourself nuts if you're staring constantly and surprise log ins can yield results.
My main's a Druid so I of course love critters. That counts for something right? Right?

Nah, it's just the three. Two of them don't have eyewitness accounts from forum members, as far as I know.

I've only seen him spawn in the 3 locations. It took me 6 days of camping (8am -11pm most days) to get Skoll :(

First day = nothing.
Second day = I started spamming general with offers of gold. On the afternoon an orc /w me to say he had just spawned in the spawn point I had left, he had tamed him to see 'what all the fuss was about' -_-
Third day = nothing.
Fourth day = stolen by ally mage whilst taming.
Fifth day = killed by said ally mage.
Sixth day = I gave up and went to do dailies in Icecrown. A hunter who I had made friends with (he was looking for TLPD) /w me 'HE's HERE!'. I said grats ^^ Thinking it was the drake. He started /w come look pls hurry! I flew over expecting him to be on his epic drake but arrived to an orc DK fighting the ally mage with Skoll ice chained in the background. I ran in and tamed as the orc and troll hunter cheered me on - the orc had seen the ally mage kill Skoll the day before and was questing when he saw him spawn :D

Don't give in, he's worth it - I've given him away twice on my server since Cata  - both by the tree just as you enter the snow field up from the frozen lake.

Good luck! :D

Which three? I've seen him spawn once at the disc (tamed by a guildie), once at the harpies (tamed by Alliance) and once at the top left spawn point passed the Hostile Valkyr city with the plagued protos (tamed by myself).

I'm curious to know if these are the same three other Petopians have witnessed.

For me, the best way I camp a rare is to basically check for them everyday at various times. I will sign in first thing before work and make a pass to each of the spawn points. Sign in again when I get off work to check, and later again when I actually play. If I'm playing an alt, I would logoff inbetween times to check. If I'm playing that character, I would check when I first get on and again when I am signing off. This would put my character in the spot I want for the next time I sign in. I usually don't have to wait more then 1 week to get whom I'm searching for. This is how I keep my sanity when hunting for a rare.

I got my Skoll right over the village a few weeks ago. I had logged all of my 80s out at various rare's spawn points. I forget which now, I think my Warlock, was there. So I popped onto her to start the grind from 80-85 and there he was. My Hunter was in Uldum I think.. pretty far away. I had to make the long trip via zepp there as no Mages were around willing to port to Dal from Org.

While that sounds good, I had been searching for him for quite a while previous to that and this was not long after cata came out AND was at like 3am server time.

Right now I'm having the same bleh feeling with Gondria but I keep checking. Don't give up though. It's very rewarding when you finally get that pet. :)

ive seen him at all 3.

just do random flybys. you'll get him eventually. if you've been at it for 2 weeks now there must be something wrong with your strategy. do random fly bys at random times, it helps alot

Make sure you are clearing your cache too because if you aren't and you have Skoll cached (seeing him somewhere as a hunter pet) your NPC scan will not alert you.

To delete your cache go into your World of Warcraft folder and delete the Cache folder.

Also, I would suggest making a targeting macro too just to be extra sure you don't miss him.

My macros are usually something like /tar Skoll

and then you can set the macro to mark them with a raid icon too- unfortunately I can't get on right now to copy/paste that macro to you but I will later if you want it!

Dont give up! Your best bet is to just do casual flybys or else youll lose your mind which isnt fun :( I havent seen him in the other 2 spots, just the one by the disk, the one by the cave with jormungars, and the one by bors breath. Other then loque who is for an ahcievement I think Skoll has to be the hardest to find since alot of people still camp TLPD and if see said wolf they kill him whether they think hes for an achievement or for the blue he drops. And there will laways be the TLPD campers who get "bored" and just kill him for kicks.

Just keep looking on off hours would be your best bet! Early mornings are usually the best 2-5 am Hell come to you when your exausted, smacking your head on the desk, and when you have cursed the storm peaks for the 10th time.

We are all clearly in agreement: do not give up!

I've never seen Skoll myself, and have never looked for him, so I can't help you on the spawn locations. But, we all have different camping techniques, and mine is this. Since I am at home most of the day (yay for hard-working husband!), I park my character at one spawn spot, after a quick fly-by of all the areas, and then for the next 10 minutes, I go and do something else: clean the house, cook, play with my dog/cat/kids, talk on the phone, read, read and read some more (also, these forums are great for camp-boredom!). Every 10 of the clock (10 past, 20 past, 30 past, etc.) I fly by the spawn locations. This worked like a charm on my Gondria hunt (I got her in a few hours of dedicated camping) and for Madexx (first day I saw him being tamed underneath me in green, just as I was flying back to my original camping spot, it was 14.51, and I had embarked on my round a minute too early. Obviously, I logged off after that, since there was no point waiting around for the next five hours for nothing, and I had stuff to do that evening.) The next day he spawned for me in red, and I got him at 10.01. So, it's worth a try. I realise that people with work will have troubles with this, but perhaps on a quiet weekend you can try this method to see if it yields results.

Good luck on the hunt!

Don't give up! Keep up that circle, pick odd times of the day, offer gold, but most of all you just got to stay persistent. Eventually, it will come.

Putridus is a zombie giant rare that wanders around the vrykul mountain in Icecrown in a sort of half-circle. NPCscan will pick him up at LUDICROUS range because I've had it ping me when I was standing in the AH in Dalaran.

I've only seen Skoll in two places... the patch of snow just southeast of the val'kyr village, and the capped tunnel near the blue lady quest hub. Both times, honestly, I tripped over him. Just be patient, Storm Peaks isn't as busy as it used to be, he'll turn up.

someday I'll find someplace to host a sig that isn't stupid money-grubbing photobucket

I've seen him there and many hunters on Moon Guard have tamed him there. Just because some Forum Members haven't seen him there(because, it's not a common spawn point of his) doesn't mean he doesn't. I'm almost certain I read several posts in the past where someone found him in those two tiny areas. I don't think the overlay is mistaken and neither are people who I know have tamed him there, Kalli. :) So he has 5.

EDIT: Novi said she saw him there too.

Yeah, just the once. NPCscan's thing is a bit of a pain with the overlays. I don't think it's AS common as the other sites, but he does pop near that cave. I just suspect he dies fast there as there's quests/Vyr and TLPD path over it often.

Love the story Mozag, its similar to my strategy, but usually i just leave it on in one spot and do flybys randomly as well.

You need to clear your cache more often I'm afraid. Even if you dont necessarily "see" Skoll, simply going into SW or ORG can immediately mark Skoll because of a hunter who was inside the Inn with Skoll out while you were outside. Basically if you have to go to a major city then you need to clear your cache, and it sounds like you're not 100% staying in Storm Peaks, so that could be a problem with NPCSCAN for you right there.
