Am I the only hunter in existence who uses the Undead Hawk?

Unread post by Minifig »

Okay, I may not be the ONLY hunter in existence, but it sure as heck feels that way on my server..

I get whisper upon whisper 'Where did you get your bird?!', etc etc.

I always let them know, but I don't let them know how to go about getting it... that's part of the fun of the hunt... :D

There'll be a non-special way of taming one in 4.0.6 anyway - no quest or outside help required.
Just pop along to Northrend.

As you can see here: http://forums.wow-petopia.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=8640

I'd just tell 'em--I do use one, but haven't had anyone ask about it. Probably because I don't stand around in Org anywhere near as much as I used to

It's not my favourite of pets, but I'm all for variety regardless of whether I personally like it or not.

Can never have too much choice!

I had one on my hunter, but the feet are so... big... D: Anyways I did spend a good 20 minutes sending him down to one part of Brill and then calling him back and seeing how many flips i could get him to do. People always liked that.

My undead huntress has one, naturally. But I prefer the Tenacity grabbiness of scorpids in PvP. :p Wish those came in an undead model.

Let me give Runty a good home.

I'm getting one on my Orc Hunter when she's high enough, when I'm paying attention to alts off my main server again of course.
My main's a Druid so I of course love critters. That counts for something right? Right?

Nooo ty.

The three pets you see on my sig.. are to be my specialty pets.

I'll probably go for Terroropine later, but I feel I've got a good basis for raiding pets here.

;) Might want to branch out to other pets for other buffs, though. Most raids I've been in typically will contain a:

1) Cat (or wolf, but Sambas is the flavor of the month now, Pitch is less common  )

2) Shaman or mage

In the event they don't, by all means, but....hunters have the unique ability to be a Swiss Army Knife. Exploit it often!

And as nice a utility as Disarm is against, say, Forgemaster Throngus, the Bird Of Prey Snatch could be a Ravager's damage increase or a Dragonhawk/Windserpent's caster buff instead....much more productive overall.

Let me give Runty a good home.

Nope, don't have that gorgeous birdie yet, but a few more levels on my Worgen and I can go ahead and get it. It's one of the pets I'm most looking forward to. I tamed it on my first Hunter before his race change, and though I was elated that I had the bird, it didn't feel right, and it feels even less right with Mozag. But, my Worgen and her Grimm will hopefully fit perfectly.

I've got the dedburd on a few of my characters. As far as the model goes, I -love- it. The family ability, however...yeah. Snatch is okay, but honestly probably of more use in PVP than PVE unless you're doing Stonecore with a -really- undergeared tank or something. Which is a shame 'cause I'd love to use a Northrend-style vulture (better ability) only they all STILL have broken flight anims, and the zombie hawk doesn't.

Right now, statwise anyway, your best bets for PVE are things with a useful buff (Cat/SB, Shale Spider, Wolf/D'saur, Silithid), or something with a directly useful ability (I used to raid with either a windserpent or ravager. 4% damage buff is too important to pass up, and I'd switch between the ravager (phys) and 'serp (magic) depending on the composition of the raid. Yes, I'd nerf my own numbers if we had more casters than non. XD ) If you're looking for a pet people don't have, try a serpent. The stacking armor debuff is awfully shiny, and TBH, the cunning ability of 'Roar of Recovery' is really nice to have up if you're Surv, which is still a little focus starved at times.

someday I'll find someplace to host a sig that isn't stupid money-grubbing photobucket

At first I really wondered how people were getting a dead bird pet. But then I remembered...

I have that feeling with my lavender felboar. I get whispers all the time asking about him - I guess no one visits Blade's Edge anymore?

I love the hawk models, both the undead and the golden specifically, but my little golden eagle seems to be stuck in the idle animation. He won't fly/glide, even when I send him out to attack something, it looks like he's dragging his tailfeathers. D: I really love his color, but I'm not sure if I love it enough to keep him when he's this glitchy.

Yeah. Blizzard has been told time and time and time again that many of the birds don't ever shift out of their 'idle hover' posture, and time and again I either get told to 'put your suggestions for new changes on the forum! :D :D' or else 'Working as intended! :D'

Which I think is the direct result of the GM that got my bug report being either unable to identify what I was talking about, or else not caring enough to bother filing anything.

ALL northrend-style vultures do it (including the one from Redridge which they apparently hotfixed somewhere along the line to BREAK it, because it used to work properly), as well as all brown 'druid' hawks, and some (but not all) of the black ones.

All old-world and Outland style vultures are fine, and I'm pretty sure normal hawks and owls are all right. The deadhawk uses the normal hawk animation and doesn't buttdrag.

someday I'll find someplace to host a sig that isn't stupid money-grubbing photobucket
