A while back I introduced myself after catching my first big rare-tame, Skoll.

As he is my favorite tamable model in the entire game, I had to have him. Fortunately, while that hunt took many long, arduous camping sessions over many days, it wasn't that complicated a tame. My friend didn't have much luck, however, when it came to griefing Alliance harassing or messing with her. Needless to say I was a little apprehensive about the possibility of dealing with rude people, but Skoll was just the beginning....
I found myself occasionally pathing over other Northrend rare spawns, to see if I might happen across them. Lo and behold..

I stumbled upon this ghostly cat! While I did like the spectre like appearance, a lot of the cat models never really caught my eye. Over time though, I grew to really like her, and ended up making her a boy with the fitting name of Schrödinger.
Over the next few weeks, prior to Cata's final release, I manage to snatch up the awesome looking Arcturis in passing, (Naming him Zeitgeist), hit up a trip to BWL to get me Chromaggus (named Orthus), summon up Gezzarak the Huntress for both myself and my best friend, and pick up one of those cool looking undead eagles. I was on an ongoing hunt as well for King Krush, as I had been using a black Devilsaur and was looking to replace it with a more unique skin. Though I found no Krush, I did happen across Loque without even trying! Originally... I really did not like his model at all. I thought the face and shape of the body was really strange. But I couldn't let him just end up slaughtered by some Frostbitten Achievement hunter! I tamed, and like his spirit beast cousin, Gondria, he grew on me. I named him 'Frostbite' in a bit of irony from that troublesome achievement.
Unfortunately I didn't take pics of those catches for some reason. Kicking myself! AND THEN.... along comes Cataclysm and it's amazing looking, tamable rares. Great, I'm going to run out of space in my stable so fast! Seeing what Cata has to offer, I immediately set my sights on one particular model. Terrorpene. I was never much for the turtles, but that changed when Blizz decided to make one out of FIRE. Over the course of leveling, I would take a few hours here and there to camp his area. With Cata JUST arriving, you could bet Hyjal was pretty busy, and word of new tames was slowly starting to spread. I happened to watch a low-- 82ish? Ally hunter go for the tame with heal backup. Was interesting to watch, and was messy, but gave me a clue on just how challenging that turtle was! Eventually, it wasn't until I was 84 that I caught him, and barely by the skin of my teeth got me a shiny new fire turtle which I aptly named Krakatoa! Fire burns!

This was a few days after Cata, and I think I may have been the first Horde tame of him on my server. But I can't be sure! Needless to say, he turned a lot of heads, and I pointed a lot of potential Terrorpene hunters in the right directions! I must say he makes an amazing tank pet.
My hunt for Krush continues, every now and then I head to Sholozar to spend a few hours making rounds. I manage to catch Aotona by luck in my hunting, but Krush seems like it's going to be a hard one. I only manage to find him once over the course of many weeks, and he was dead! Seriously, how hard is it to spot a giant green dinosaur-- wait what is that!?

My big green monster! Being 85 the tame was a snap-- just drop, scoop him up, take some bragging photos and move on! I love this beast, they can really dish out the hurt! Now what's next.. Oh, right. SAMBAS! The new model was just amazing to me, so well made! A real eye catcher, and I could use a nice cat in my collection since the ones I had weren't really CATS. This one ended up being as hard and taxing as Krush was, but with a lot more Alliance in my face. His spawn points make it hard to not be bothered, and I bumped into a few rude hunters, unfortunately. Between pathing and camping over the course of a few weeks, I headed out with my friend to catch a couple easier rares for my collection-- Nuramoc, Huhuran and Buru, for a change of scenery. She picked up Ayamiss the Hunter out of AQ 20 to go with my garish Huhuran (which I named Skittle). BIG bugs, even next to my tauren! Soon though, I get lucky!

The cat is mine! And he looks so much nicer in game as well. Such a contrast from the older models. I pass the info on to other Horde hunters I spotted in the zone, and made a friend out of it too!
So, the other day, just out of curiousity, I decide to scope out Ghostcrawler's path. I figured it was probably the easiest of Spirit beasts to get, and originally I wasn't in the market for ANOTHER one, but... I found him within 15 minutes of heading to Va'sir and gave into the tame bug. The model is pretty nice, and I speced him a little more on the tankish side. Kinda wonder why he roars like a cat though...

The trip for Ghostcrawler was mostly for a change of pace. I had been camping Storm Peaks in my months long hunt for one elusive drake, and had just spent a good... 20+ hours out in those snowy mountains staring at.. snow. Heading back, I park myself in my spot, and not too long after I hear that tell tale blare of NPC scan. I'm expecting it to be ANOTHER Vyragosa (I had killed/seen her four times in the past three days already), but...

I was WRONG! The Time Lost spawned right behind me, and in a bit of a panic I fumbled to kite him down and quickly kill him. Not a second too soon, either, as an Ally Shaman had swooped down almost instantly, despite the Peaks being pretty much dead for most of the day. But he congratulated me and moved on! Whew, what a rush. Apparently Altoholic was also pretty flustered and confused, by the look of it. Total Owned: 44? I WISH!

So here I am, lurking about in Uldum on my shiny new drake after my next possible tame... I'm looking at you, Maddex.
It's like an addiction. Even if the pets don't instantly click, there's something incredibly fun about hunting down rarities. Gotta catch 'em all!
