I see your Fire Pig and raise you one Flaming Yellow Bird!

I was in the Blasted Lands grinding up Herbalist/Mining on an alt when I see this yellow thing flying overhead. I click it and to my surprise it is a rare; one that I had never seen until then. Upon further investigation the two headed beasts head was ON FIRE! So I quick logged and dashed on over to tame it with the AbandonPet macro in tow. Has anyone else tamed this guy?

After the tame I headed over to my trusty pet information website Petopia and looked him up. It is SpiteFlayer the only Yellow Vulture currently in use. I guess he used to be black, so much for the old saying about never going back eh (jokes I has them). Here are some screen shots of the flaming flapper for you guys. I do not know if it will keep the flames after death.
Because he is a rare, I would rather not test it to find out.

I have him on my hunter, but I didnt use the abandon trick to get the fire. I dont think i noticed the fire, honestly. makes him look cooler for sure!

im just personally leery of using that abandon trick since blizz addressed.

It's also been readdressed that they're (to paraphrase Wain's post) turning a blind eye to it so long as no one reports us with the pets and so long as the pets we tame just retain visual effects and not buffs that could effect game play.

I don't remember which thread Wain's post was in otherwise I'd link it.

:O Oh my! Aren't you ballsy for taming a rare with the macro! It usually takes me about 50 tries post patch to successfully get a tame down with the macro :C I must not be doing it right, because the way it is for me now, I'd NEVER risk it for a rare

I want to think that Felcorruption is an exploit due to the fact it gives a buff/debuff and not 100% visual... Or maybe that is Feltaint.?

One or the other. I saw it myself and wouldn't do it myself. Additionally, if it is like the fire crabs, it (the visual effect) will not persist through death meaning it is a temporary buff.

Indeed, that one IS a damage buff, so I wouldn't tame that particular bird if I were anyone else reading this thread. It isn't just pretty fire sadly. And Phyra's right about the other part--it is also lost on death, if you were wondering, Ollof.

I haven't seen him flying around yet, I'd be tempted to grab him on my second hunter. The flame effect is really lovely. Make sure you get some scenic screenshots of him before letting the buff go away, the look is beautifully unique.

I've had the bird with its appearance for a few weeks now. Didn't want to post anything because of the issue. Yes he loses the flame upon death. Had to go out and retame and carefully level him. He now sits in the stable as a pretty birdy. One good thing is if ever he dies he'll still be a beautiful Rare.

I also found another not previously mentioned appearance pet. It also loses its appearance upon death and chose not to keep it. I'd rather not say what it is.
