I'm not entirely sure of where to post this, and I'm sure you guys are probably tired of me constantly talking about this cat, but I need your help. I've written up a post about Hawkbane I plan on putting up on the official forums (though I'm not entirely sure where to post it exactly, since I very, very rarely post there...) in hopes that at least someone will listen and look into this because this has been bothering me for year now, and it won't stop until I either have the answer I seek or if he's returned to the game.

I remember Hawkbane, and he was a cat with an aura of mystique. As for what forum it might fit in, I looked at the list. i didn't see a suggestion forum, which left either the hunter or general discussion forums. If it went in general discussion, it would probably get buried pretty fast. That forum seems to get a lot of traffic. Either way, tough call.

I know some people ask gms about mobs that have gone missing. You could try that perhaps?

Post it on the Blizz hunter forums and see if someone will give a response. You could in game message a GM but honestly you may not get any information from that either and you could end up waiting several days before the ticket is even read because it's not a "priority" ticket.

It would be nice to see him returned.

He was a 70 elite, same model and skin as King Bangalash.

I'm one of the people who doesn't really care for King B, but the reason why Hawkbane means so much to me is because he was the first pet to ever really capture my interest who wasn't a rare. He's the reason why I have Toph even though she never got to tame him. He was just an elite, but I heard that he was a hard tame since he was in an out of the way area full of other cats. Details I'm not sure of since I never got to see him first hand.

But, those of you who said something, thank you, thank you so much. I was starting to give up hope of anyone taking notice. I'll try the hunter forums, but I'm trying to brace myself before I do, though. I've never done something like this before and I'm... scared. I'm very shy and even thinking about interacting with people even online on forums makes me nervous to the point where I get a tight feeling in my chest. I'm trying to wait till that goes away at least.

I know there are some of you here who are on the EU realms and won't be able to post on the US forums, so I'd appreciate it if somebody were to make a sister thread about this cat to help spread the word about him.

@Kalli - I'd be shocked if they gave him an unused skin since I'm used to him being the white tiger, but so long as it was him and that they brought him back, I'd be happy no matter what they did.

Thank you, but nobody's said anything, so it'll probably just fall by the wayside on the official forums. :/ I'm happy you understand, and I hope that something like this never happens to you or anybody else. It was really upsetting for me when I learned he' been taken out for no reason. If our special lurker's still around and about, I'm hoping he'd be able to shed some light on this years' long mystery.

A lot of people aren't going to understand the concept behind bonding with a named or individual mob. Don't stress about what others might say on the official forum, it's full of people that are just out to make others miserable. You put out your thoughts as a reasonable suggestion, so don't feel bad about doing so.

I posted a reply in your thread in an attempt to explain it, but if nothing comes of it don't worry. This forum is a much better candidate anyways since Noah lurks about and is more likely to be someone to address the Hawkbane mystery.

In those days (BC) it mattered because pets stayed the level they were before you tamed them. To level them you had to kill mobs that gave you experience. So naturally, a level 70 hunter would much rather tame Hawkbane than grind King B. up from level 43, which was the level he was in those days. Now he's 29.

2 other cats that have the same skin and model are Frostsabers and Frostsaber Stalkers in Winterspring. Petopia lists them as lvl 52-53, but apparently before the Shattering, Frostsabers were lvl 52-57 and Frostsaber stalkers were lvl 52-60.

Autoleveling to make pets at least 5 levels below you came in patch 3.0.2 (October 14, 2008), the content patch that ushered in WotLK (Nov 14, 2008).

That was reduced to 3 levels below you in patch 4.0.2 (October 12 last year).

And as some may remember, I'm not in favor of having pets automatically be the same level as the hunter like warlock pets.

@Vephriel and Kalliope - Thank you so much, you two. I'm not very good at talking to people in any shape or form. Heck, I was jittery about posting about Hawkbane /here/ because of my anxiety when it comes to other people. This cat's a very sensitive topic with me, so that's one reason why I got upset at that person's words. I'm just glad some of you here are listening to me about this since it's bothered me for this long, but I only now got up the courage to finally try and get to the bottom of this. If he's still around, I really hope he'll be able to help, but even if not, I'm extremely grateful that he's been listening to everything we say here.

No worries. ^_^ He really should be brought back, especially since there was really no reason that I can fathom that caused him to be removed in the first place.

Since I started playing WoW back in BC, this guy was the first pet I was aware of who had been removed from the game and it's always bothered me a bit that I wasn't aware of him until after that fact. I'd like to meet him.

If he comes back I will deffo tame it I just remembered him some time last night after reading this thread, and I never even knew I was missing that kitty.

I remember first running into it, it was in the TBC days. I'd never seen the cave, so I went to explore like the nub that I am. And there he was...Killed me, needless to say

I hope it gets back, and your dedication and story inspired me to name my undead hawk Hawkbane :3
