Ex-Colour Changers

I'm sure many of you remember when certain beasts swapped between different colours after taming. Most of these creatures were fixed in Cataclysm to become a stable colour, however they still have one issue. When viewed in your Stable window, a preview window of some sort, and even on the Character Selection screen, the pet will appear as the old colour that they used to turn into, and not their current permanent colour. I'm trying to get a list together of all the pets that have this little problem, so if anyone could help that would be awesome!

I know of two for certain that have this behaviour, but I suspect more of the old colour changers suffer from it as well. I've listed the ones that are confirmed, and after I've tried to remember all the colour changers I could. I assume they might have the same problem, but if anyone knows of more or can confirm/deny that would be a great help!

I do know that the 'ghostly' pets will also appear as solid in the stables, like the Disembodied Jormungar and The Lone Hunter, although they're not color-changers.

*nod* That's a good point to bring up, though I'm not sure if that's something that could be altered. I don't think those sorts of previews will apply specific appearances such as transparency/glows/buffs/etc. It will just display the base model, though at least it shows the correct colour. ^^

Well, my Tauren hunter has Gondria, and he definitely shows up as damned near see-through on the character select screen. So I'm not sure why he looks right but the others don't. Luck of the spirit beastie draw, maybe? /shrug

I am going to laugh so hard if it's only those two! This felt like an ever-present problem because you'd had the raptor and I'd had the warpie! x_x

I just went on a taming spree to test out some of the old colour changers that I wasn't sure on. Surprisingly enough they were all fine and none suffered from the incorrect model being displayed.

It may just be the Warp Stalker and Raptor after all, but if anyone has more guesses or information let me know! ^^

LOL I know right? I was sad because my raptor wasn't the bright purple he should have been, and you were glummed out about the blue not showing up. xD Figures...

I've got one of the red and green ravagers from inside the cave in WInterspring. On the char select screen, it's the yellow and purple one (Gore-Scythe).

These didn't exist before 4.0.2 so I don't know why they scan wrong.

I know I've got another one that's wrong, but I can't remember which one it is offhand. I'll go have a look.

A few pets from Cataclysm Beta were using the colour changing feature and were fixed just before release, so there could be some leftovers from that (such as the case with the Blue warp stalker).

Oh yeah, you reminded me. The other one that's wrong is indeed the warpstalker. That's a legacy error, most likely (since color changers always appeared on the cgen screen as one particular skin) but... I can't explain the Lost one.

Yeah I have one of these an noticed it too. On the character select screen and also in the stable display

I can have him out, and the stable open with him selected to show profile and both colors are different even though it's the same pet.

**Off/On Topic**
An unusual behavioral trait of these ravagers that I experienced, was when you tame them and once they stop moving and settle into an idol pose, they drop down into a angry quivering crouch position, the same pose as in the link. Lost Ravager

It does unfortunately resets once you dismiss your pet and revert to a normal acting Ravager, but odd none the less.

Running around on the PTR to confirm still-broken status in 4.0.6. (Side note: premade characters would benefit greatly from being attuned to all the new Cata zones. *paddles around Vashj'ir sans seahorse*)

Confirmed that all three that have been listed so far are still broken in 4.0.6.

Well, while not an "ex" color changer, my crab Myra also suffers from completely wrong color display on armory (to me, at least... I assume other people see it too?) She's a pyreshell scuttler, which is a color-changing crab, but she shows up on the armory as a grey spiky crab. I'd understand if she showed up as one of the colors she can become, even without the markings, but grey...?

Added the Spiny Tidecrawler from Tol Barad. Displays an orange model instead of the green it should be.

I also seemed to find an easier way to ascertain if this issue appears. On WoWhead, if you use the [View in 3D] button, you will get an image of what the game considers the default colour, also the colour that would show up in a stable or Character screen. For the confirmed problem pets listed in the first post, the 3D model is the incorrect one for each of them.

Depending on the lighting the 'black' crabs can look a little grey. There is no grey model though, only the one black, so I wouldn't say it's incorrect, just the armory has a brighter light on it.

Even though it is labelled 'black', it is a brown color, not black or grey:

Ooh I see, that is very strange then. I kind of wish that silvery grey was a real tamable model in game, it looks nice!

Poking through the armory:

Skoll shows up oddly (he looks transparent rather than just blue and sparky) but I'm not sure that's not unintentional.)
The red-glowing-eyed, hunched shiny panther from ZG appears as a normal panther (non-riding saber)
Firespiders apparently don't show up at all (at least the orange one doesn't)
Green old-world chimera doesn't show up either.
My colorchanger phosphorescent crab also shows up as the gray version reported above
Shango shows up as a normal tiger instead of the saber model
My ant silithid (which if memory serves is the blue one) doesn't show up at all
Blue ice cat shows up as normal tiger model, not saber (this seems to be a trend)
Chromaggus doesn't show up

Apparent trends:
All cats except lions show up with the simplest version of their skin over the base tiger model. (includes riding sabers, glossy hunchcats)
Most/many spiny crabs show up as plain gray
Recently (for a given value of recent) added mobs don't show up at all (Chromaggus, Evalcharr, flame spiders, ant silithids)

Zora, rare wasp, also has a blank armory display. (Has been around since BC, but did get a recolor in 4.0)

Yeah, I think the armory displays are a different issue, most likely they haven't created images for some of the newer pets yet. The in-game displays are more of what I'm looking for, but hopefully the missing armory pictures are fixed eventually too.
