Idea for soloing / taming strategies

Unread post by Phoronid »

Last year's holiday gift was a mini-controllable zeppelin.
As an interesting side-effect using it instantly dismisses your pet.

Have a Tenacity pet with any form of slow effect on them, like a Crocolisk. It prevents running mobs so you don't have to worry too much about accidental pulls.
Keep your pet on defensive Only when there are small groups without the pet you want. Otherwise, put it on passive and manually select each non-pet enemy you want dead. It will continue to fight JUST those, and keep aggro on everything.
If the pet is close to death, dismiss pet and feign so that it resets.
Unless your pet has aggro, do not attack anything. Make sure to MD one enemy at a time.
If engineer, tinker your belt for Grounded Plasma Shield, and macro your belt to Tame Beast. 10 seconds if 10k damage protection will help you out in the long run.
Mark your target! Sometimes you can get caught up in the action, and accidentally kill what you are looking for.
Haste is not an issue, but Timing is. When you are in a moment where a suddenly spawned creature is what you are wanting to tame, keep your back turned to whatever it is you're fighting, and spam Tame Beast until it works. Extra haste is nice, but not needed for anything in the game right now.

My thought was this might be useful for the taming of oil-coated things and the non-broken, not-leaving upon death buffs, since the other methods were considered issues.

Also, kind of an interesting idea for extreme soloing odd tactics, like Loatheb in Naxx, where you can (and need to) dismiss and summon pets quickly and mid combat to deal with debuffs.
