The White Whale of Pet Addicts

I know all detectives are supposed to have a "white whale" case that they never solve that can drive them crazy, but I think pet masters (like myself) may have this problem as well. Buitre, 85 Human Hunter, Quel'Dorie. I have tamed all of the Cataclysm rares (Terrorpene twice), I have tamed the mighty Chromaggus . I have tamed Spiteflayer, the Silithid Harvester, Olm the Wise, the list goes on. And, I have tamed five (5) FIVE of the spirit beasts. My personal white whale? Arcturis. The Glow Bear is driving me up a wall . I have logged literally more than 100 hours standing in one spot, morning to night, looking for him and he refuses to spawn . Everyone says he is the easiest spirit beast to tame. Not for me. Maybe he doesn't like me? I am absolutely determined to tame him. I have 4 empty spots in my stable and one is reserved for him. Without him, my status as the greatest tamer on my server cannot be complete ! Does anyone else have a White Whale that they have found impossible to get thus far?

Congratulations on your list of tames I detest Arcturis, which is why he's the only Spirit Beast (apart from the new Cata ones) I have never wanted nor plan to get.

Had you made this post 2 days ago, I would have said Krush. =D A year of searching for him with no joy, then WHAM! A random moment of logging to find him directly underneath me. Was definately a tear-shedding moment =)

Right now, it would have to be Princess Huhuran ;_; I wanted her since I found out she's tameable (I've got a thing for lime green pets, haha). My boyfriend and I have tried 2 manning the first boss of AQ40 every week since Cata's come out, coming back with better gear, better strategies, and we just cant make it past him! None of my guildies/friends have been willing to come along (either that or we always ask when EVERYONE and their mother is busy), so no luck yet...I love looking at her Petopia picture every day, with her head cocked to one side and those big green bug eyes...

I have Huhuran, the first boss is easy to solo. Basically, dismiss the pet you have and sneak around him. Summon a spirit beast, yes it has to be a spirit, I used Skoll for example. Fieghn begind the pillar behinf him on the right. Send in your spirit and just have it use heal on itself. Have it kill the boss's clones first. It's really easy. I absolutely love and appreciate your kind-heartedness =) I've been on Terenas since I started the game all those years ago, and I don't think of moving/making alts on another server anytime soon, but if I ever do, I'll be sure to take you up on that offer =D

I might try Destrominos' solo guide to the first boss involving a Spirit Beast...will make a super massive posts with tons of pictures should I succeed =3

Arcturis is mine as well! the ONLY time i have ever seen him in the wild was what i thought to be the luckiest day ever since no one else was camping him for once (he is camped 24 hours a day by at least two hunters on my realm). i started taming and got just over halfway through when a botting DK ran up and killed him. I say botting because i was pleading with him to stop and offered him 2k on the spot to stop, which you think would make him target me or emote at me to gloat or something. but nope, never targeted me, just killed the bear, did not loot, and ran off. it has been my personal mission lately to tame that elusive beast, but so far no luck on my end. i have 3 characters hearths set there!

My white whale was Loque. Spent weeks circling his spawn points. Whole days camping..and nothing. Finally gave up, only to have my husband's mage one day out farming ore, have him spawn right in front of him. He quickly sheeped and yelled for me to log in. Pure chance that I was finally able to tame him. Other than that, my ally hunter on Scarlet Crusade had serious issues finding OCJ. My only other long time coming tame was The Sewer Beast on Tess. Thankfully no more white whales.

i think you just need to sit above his spawn point, leave NPCSCAN running, and just go do other stuff around the house (checking every 15 min or so to keep from afk'ing out).

you'll hear a noise when he spawns. if you've spent 100 hours at it you're either very very very unlucky, or theres something that needs work with your camping style. Or perhaps its really only 5 hours and it just seems like 100.

His spawn is under 24 hours to be safe, generally between 6-24.

Seems to be the Evalcharr for me at the moment. All the other new patch rares I found with ease (most I now have twice, on my main and alt hunters), but this one is being elusive.

Arcturis was my last one as well. Like others have said, he seems very farmed (I suspect because he has only one spawn location thus "should" be easiest one to get). I tamed him just yesterday... I had seen a 75 Worgen Hunter camped there the previous night, went to bed so he could camp (he was there first after all) and came back next morning figuring he must have tamed since he was offline.

I waited at the spawn point from 6:00 am - 2:30 pm when the Worgen logged in so I knew he must not have spawned that night and would likely spawn soon. After an additional hour, 2 of the worgen's guildies came over (a shaman + a priest I presume for haste buff so he could steal tame). We all waited there until 5 pm when Arcturis spawned. I had my volume up really high and a macro "/tar Arcturis /cast tame beast" as well as a "/tar Arcturis /cast Distracting Shot" so I was prepared to get initial aggro and taunt aggro back.

I presume the Priest/Shaman were AFK when Arcturis spawned b/c they just sat there and didn't do heroism. Right when the NPC scan went off I pressed my tame macro. Got to about halfway when the 75 Worgen taunted. I taunted back, re-hit tame. He taunted back. I taunted back a second time, re-hit tame (at this point Arcturis had about 400 health), and a few seconds later he was mine.

I guess part of me felt bad for the Worgen b/c he was a lowbie and probably wanted the pet to level with... Though I had been waiting there for 11 consecutive hours and was not about to let him tame Arcturis.

Now that he's tamed I guess I need another white whale... My current obsession has been getting the arena master trinket (from Gurubashi Arena). I'm not sure what I'll do after that.

As far as pets go - no. I've gotten everything I've gone after in that department.

I do have a "white whale mount" however - Anzu. 2 stacks of nethers and counting , countless "8% chance" epic gem drops, but not one "1% chance" mount. Alas...

Blue Madexx. I'm losing count of how many times I've seen him in other colors, but it's well above ten.

Madexx, I have never seen him live/dead or tamed on arathor. I am starting to question if he's even on my server. I love the blue skin best of all, but at this point I'd be happy with any color!!

Black Madexx is my white whale. For a solid month, I saw nothing of Madexx, period. No corpses, no fresh tames, no anything. Last night, at about 1:10 A.M. on Sisters of Elune, at long, long last, a green Madexx came out to meet me. Green is my least favorite of the rare-only colors, but I was so happy to see anything at all, I tamed her just the same. Tai is lovely and charming, much more so than I expected. I'm glad to have her. But today I found myself circling again, silently begging for my handsome black to show. After just two hours of camping, at around 3:00 P.M., a friend of mine who I've been camping with for a bit found her blue. Not my black, of course... but still Madexx, and very probably the first since last night's spawn. That's two spawns in a row we've managed to catch, where just the other day it was none. I have hope now, and I'm determined not to leave until I have what I came here for. Come home, Belmont!

*Update* I tamed him! A few minutes later I helped another hunter get Gondria. This is a happy day.

Chiming in on Madexx too. Hell, I don't even care what color, though I did go grab one of the bronze ones to make myself feel better.

He's as bad as Arcturis, if not worse.... freakin' spawn points smack dab in the middle of a heavy questing zone...
