Netherwing drakes!

Unread post by Miraga »

So I'm considering doing the grind for the Netherwing drakes but I'm wondering how long it's taking people? I realize it took a while in BC since people were fighting over eggs... So how long did it take you in WOTLK/Cata? They're really pretty mounts and I like them but grinding reputation always makes me go "UGH!"

When I was doing it, it took me a couple of weeks, but I didn't have much luck with finding any eggs.

My personal record is five days, but an old guildie did it in three days.

I also exist on DeviantArt.

My best is three days, five hours. I did the dailies and spent the rest of the time egg farming.
There's a bunch of really good egg route videos on youtube that were very helpful. The netherwing races are easiest when looked up ahead of time as well.
Also, don't forget to pick up any nethercite or netherdust nodes you find. They have a chance of containing eggs. =)

5-6 days. Sooner if it weren't for the fact it was right around Winter/Christmas/Holiday break, so all the kids came out. (I can't talk, seeing as I'm only 15...But you know what I mean?)

about a week. Look up Netherwing Eggs on youtube to figure out where the eggs spawn (random chance finding one, gives 250 rep each) There are generally 5-6 up at any time if I remember right, but running through there at odd hours can net tons of extra eggs.

Do all the dailies too, they aren't terribly hard and once you get the hang of it, it goes relatively fast :)

The drakes are very pretty as well

It took me around ten days, I guess? I didn't actively search for eggs; just grabbed the ones that I came across while doing the dailies and went on my way.

I say go for it. The drakes are cool, and I like the subtle differences between the enslaved drake model and the freed version.

It took me about a week - week and a half of mostly doing dailies and looking for eggs while doing them. I had some good egg days (11!) and some bad ones (none), it all depends. Well worth it though -- the drakes are beautiful, and one of the quests is absolutely hilarious!

All hail the Booterang!

after doing all the precursor quests, it took about two days of egg gathering...and this was on a full server (ZJ). it really isn't bad at all, and so worth it for your mount total! the mines are where i found the majority of eggs, and if you have gatherer it will track them for you so you can follow a route.

There is a bug that if you get to neutral (or is it friendly... I don't remember) with them and then faction change... when you go back to start up the grind again you'll be forced to do the last quest again that you did before heading over to the floating island. The quest involved freeing the dragon on top of that one place by killing the boss for the key...

Anyway... once you do that quest over again and turn it in you'll be rewarded the same amount of rep as you did before... 42k rep, I think...

Meaning... if you are at Neutral/Friendly and you faction change it will only take that ONE quest to get to Exalted.

I found this out by accident...

I need more hunters, IMO.

I've done the grind twice, on my Druid alt (once my main, now semi-retired) and again on my hunter. On my druid it only took me three days, with the rest of the time spent actively farming eggs; on my Hunter it took me a week and a half, looking for eggs occasionally and I skipped dailies a couple days. All in all a very easy grind, especially if you do it during off hours so you can find eggs :D

I psyched myself out for a bit but finally made myself start the grind about 4 days ago, lol. I'm a little bit into revered after finding 10 eggs the other day (it was at 7am so I was the only one there! bwahahaha!). This has been relatively painless but if I do a /who and see there are 4+ people there who are level 85 I just don't bother with egg farming... That's too much competition for me, rofl. I might just make myself get up early so I can farm those eggs... it'd only be a few days of less sleep, right?? haha! I think I might get the albino drake after this. I'm sitting at 25 mounts and can easily get the other race mounts... hm... But until then I will be farming eggs. When I finish, my hunter will never set foot in SMV again! (cackles).

I have the Netherwings on four characters, all who did it at level 70 (yes, I am a stubborn girl) and I think it took about 6-7 days to do it on the two later chars (the ones who actually did it AFTER you could get higher than 70) I did all the dailys every day, and looked for eggs in the off-hours, usually setting up a number that I had to reach before logging off. Usually got around 9 eggs per night then. I also used gatherer and mining/herbing, and since I like I said had done this two times before, I had both the spawnplaces on the map and in my mind, although I did find some new spots I couldn't dream of getting in TBC (like the two-three that spawn VERY close to the camp, one or two actually inside :P )

I really like the drakes, and still think they look the best. Too bad none of my coming alts can get one though, since I now have the colours I want, and don't like the thought of duplicating them (since all four have different colours) at least not on my main server and faction.

do the racing quests too. just do everything. you can do it!

btw when you finally get exhaulted and get your first drake, you fly away back to shattarah on a dragon.... at walking speed.

when that happens leave the computer and come back 20 minutes later. it took forever

Good luck on Egg hunts!
