I guess I'm in the minority here--I personally wouldn't like to have my pets out while mounted. I prefer to match pets and mounts and then just say I'm riding the pet. (The new riding model cats are awesome for this, as are bears and raptors.) It would be a pain to have to dismiss my pet every time.

I think the reasoning behind the spiders is their web--holds the enemy in place while you kill it. Doesn't have so much to do with pet spec.
