After reading your post, I went out and tamed every color of Portent; red, green, purple and blue. None are laying down tracks. When did you tame the track-laying Portent? Perhaps during a time when sparkle pets were still tameable? If not, maybe you tamed one EXACTLY when it was laying down a track...

His spawn timer is really long.. I think about 24-48 hours. Correct me if I'm wrong :p

The shale spider itself wasn't nerfed, and it doesn't compared to the spider anyway :p Shale Spiders have a 3 second stun, while spiders have a snare. What they did nerf is BM's passive ability, Exotic Beasts, which used to reduce the CD of pet abilities by 30%, now it reduces the cooldown by 1% :/ ...

I'm always up for giving a Hordie a hand finding these guys! Quite enjoyable tracking the beasts down.

Turn down your ground clutter, that seems to help. Also, have his route memorized beforehand, so if you lose the trail, you know about where you should pick it up. I'd like to thank Mousie for helping me get my pet. I tried for a good hour with my wife and couldnt do it correctly. The 4th one with Mousie and I got it! :D Could I ask, when this was? I just had 5 "successful" tames, this time with oil-wolves (pet dies and its body disappears, error message "Your pet is not dead", log out, back in). All resulted in a non-buffed pet.

Sorry, but I'm callin' this taming method fixed as of now :c

I'm too lazy to look through all 21 pages of this thread, so would anybody mind telling me if the flaming boars from the Tauren starting zone are still tamable through this method? Veiled Basilisks in Towlong Steppes can be tamed with their camo-buffs. But they only appear camo'd for the first ~10 seconds when you call the from your stables, then they don't appear to camo again until you resummon them.

This mini-buff doesn't persist through death.

Add Spiteflayer to the fragile buff list. Rare yellow carrion bird in Blasted lands with a ball of yellow fire on top of his head. Tamed him with the fire, then killed him to find out his buff disappears on death. I thought I took a SS, but I can't find it D: I'll try to tame him again to get a scre...

While taming the sha-goat, I found that, if killed in the wild, the goat loses its buff, but when tamed, keeps the buff upon death.

So the old idiom, if it loses its buff in the wild, it's a fragile-buff pet, isn't necessarily true...

They do indeed lose their buffs.

He loses his buff when he dies in the wild, probably a fragile buff.

Buff pets are still able to be tamed after today's (1/8/13) reset.

Also, something else to note: I hade Lone Hunter before they took away our ability to tame sparkle pets. I had him out in a BG (a non-rated, plain and simple BG), and during that BG, his buff got taken away somehow. I'm not sure which class can get rid of it (priest mass-dispel maybe?), but the buff...
