I've seen each 4 or 5 times, so if anyone wants to shoot me their beta name (horde, Lost Isles), I'll send out whispers if I see one.

They're bigger than last patch (at least they're taller than the hunter now). I still wish they were bigger, but I'll take it. Rather this size than get them made untameable because some jerk was griefing NPCs (mammoths have nothing on big bad bugs...).

Kinda sad that we have to think that way that something has to be nerfed so we can feel safe about keeping it... Afraid to ask for another bowl of porridge, aren't we?

(Not picking on you Kult, there are a lot here that are gun-shy that way, and it's sad)

The bug is ok at this size but yeah, about 15 percent bigger would be nicer...

They're actually kinda cute at that size. Sure, a wee bit bigger would be nice, but they still seem pretty impressive at this point. Could we get BW pics at some point too please? :D

I,for one,am NOT a happy hunter! I like huge pets..sorry,I know this isn't politically correct, but I really like HUGE pets! The bigger the better,I say! Thats one of the reasons I wanted the Hive Queen...bigger than a freeking Rhino, she was, back before they made her
un-tameable. Was sad when that happened, but now when Cata comes out,I'll have my Giant Bug of Doom, and I'm very happy!

However,I'll get used to the smaller bugs, because I HAVE to...Blizz left me no option.

And Im sorry, but I care less about what non-hunters think about my pets than you can imagine..."I'm sorry, you think my Hive Queen is too big?!"....Beastial Wrath..."How about now, noob?!?" (Yes,still very bitter about having Skoll killed during a tame by a Paladin who just killed him because "your a huntard"...and "because you wanted him"...and yes,I reported him for griefing, still doesn't ease the pain much...)

Oh,I will have both of the brain bugs, but I think I'll stick to my Hive Queen just for the sake of being an ass...lol!! ;)

Again I too love huge pets. I do not like how small Devilsaurs and rhinos are in the game. I have wishful thoughts/dreams of there being a pet buscuit, for Hunters' pets', some day. Holy Cataclysm, did they increase the size of Devilsaur's (in the Cataclysm beta)? lol
Robot Wars is renewed for 6 episodes! I love some Exotic pets! And I hate spiders for.. "pets"!

wow, the Brainbugs are cah-YUTE!!!!
they look so squishy and huggable. LOL

So are they elites? Hard to find? Rares? Instance-only?
Are they in the Silithid family?
I looked on Petopia and didn't see anything that resembled them, so I presume they won't come out until the expac?

A bit of palindromic wisdom:

I love pets - combat or non.

They are in the Silithid family currently, the blue skin is a rare but I don't know if they're elites. Have to check again. I would assume they would come pre-Cata. But who knows.

They are not elites. They are rares, with the exception of the Hive Controller (with the exposed brain). There is another one (not rare) in un'goro with the same purple/red skin, but it is currently not tameable (not a beast).

Harakiss (the blue one) spawns in the Silithid hive in southern Tanaris. Ainamiss (red/purple) spawns in the western hive in Tanaris.

Wow. Bugs and I don't always get along, I had to get rid of my silithid because he creeped me out even though I tried desperately. But I looked at ummeiko's pic of Harakiss and went "awwwww" I might have to get him.

While I do love my pets large, I also like some kind of uniformity, and it would have seemed a little bizarre to have normal sized silithid tanks and amongst them the occasional lumbering giant BRAINBUG

So this looks fine to me; if they wanted to go ahead and enlarge all pets across the board that would be even more fine ;) , but until then the brainbugs' current size looks okay to me.

Now, I would still like to see devilsaurs enlarged, or at least able to keep their monstrous growth ability in combat even if it's just an aesthetic effect in cata... but I suppose that's a different conversation...

Having run around with one myself on Beta, I can definitely say their new size is perfect. They still give off that colossal vibe to me, they certainly look large, but they're not so huge that they're cumbersome and in the way.

Personally, I think their new size is perfect. They're big without being cumbersome or bothersome to other players (or their hunters). I can't stand having a huge pet in my way, it's next to impossible trying to loot something while your pet's enormous body extremities are all over it.

Honestly, the biggest appeal to me about the brainbugs is their shape, not their size. Worba summed it up well; this is basically on par with the regular silithid size, only with the brainbug model. No more annoying hopping. The massive size thing was just funny to see, but I wouldn't REALLY want to live with it.

(And he does look good with you, Veph, so maybe all the brainbugs were scaled down for blood elf chicks! ha!)
