While it sucks that you lost out on the first one, I've tended to find that even a small fit of anger where you kill the mob in question can lead to a reputation issue. On the other hand, everyone that plays this game is different. Some people will honor others being there before them, and others will put themselves at the front of the line. It's no different than regular situations in the real world.
I think it sucks that she took Ashtail from you, but like others have said, the situation was made worse by killing him no matter how much short term personal satisfaction you may have gotten from it. I went to Loch Modan yesterday and had already added Ashtail to NPCScan and it popped for me as soon as I landed in the town on the other side of the lake. I saw two other hunters over in his area, briefly chatted with the other alliance hunter and then headed off to go back to my Loque camping. I like to think that my karma for not becoming more competition at that time was finding Loque within 10 minutes of arriving back in Sholozar.
I logged out on ashtail's spot - I logged IN after servers are up and I see no ashtail..
1min later I see this NEFL jumping around.. and she calls out ashtail.. So I was beat by a few minutes I hearthed pissed. I then went to raid ICC with my guild... I go back and shes there AGAIN at 4am like 9 hours later.. LIKE YOU KIDDING ME? .. but with a rogue friend that kills me while i was AFK - and I come back to see myself dead and she tames it again as I was laying dead seeing what was going on and what killed me.
I dont get why this person tamed the same pet twice.
FREE from andorhal i hope you burn in hell.. NEXT TIME grow balls and tame pets by yourself and not with rogue friends
Recently I logged back on and both of the NEs did, this time we decided to be civilized. We said who would go first, second, and last. Since the first NE and I were 80s and we were there first we had to decide amongst ourselves. I was chosen to go first while she would go second and the lower level huntress would go last. We made a campfire and chatted, no heated words, about pets. We showed each other our pets, exchanged locations etc. Pretty soon a horde hunter comes along, a draenei, and another dwarf. The dwarf leaves, then the draenei - after a time - and I have to log because I'm getting tired. Log back on and the first NE who I was first ninja'd got him because I logged in a minute too late.
Suprisingly I was not mad or upset and am content to wait the hour or however long with the lower level NE. If all goes well I may have Ashtail by tonight...So I suppose it all worked out.
"Thanks to Veph for the awesome siggy! I love you!"
Ouch @ Mimee, sounds like she was just enjoying giving grief to other hunters.
Last night when I tamed mine, I think I was the first one there was on the tail of another horde hunter who said no one was around when he tamed it. About 10 minutes later a low level hunter shows and a few minutes later a second and then a third. I was pretty sure I'd get first tame but was afraid they might get mad at me since they were alliance and I wasn't. (Not a PVP server so only the pet was in danger) They didn't, reassuring my faith in humanity. Hopefully they get their foxes as well. ~ O
I just tamed Ashtail!! There was an Ally hunter there already who was runnin around the area. I saw another Ally hunter tame it yesterday so I had a good idea where it would spawn. I was there for about 45 min and started spamming /target ashtail about 10 min till the hr which is when the Ally hunter had tamed it. Anyway, I locked on and started the tame. The Ally was not around but did show up shortly after. I dont consider this a ninja by any means. If is was a Horde then I would have been glad to set something up but no xtalk with an Ally.. Anyway Ashtail spawns every hr and sometimes you just need to be in the right spot at the right time.
I saw Ashtail tamed twice today before I actually got her myself. Both times by hunters that arrived after I did. They were both nice people, though, and we talked while waiting for her. Both times she was tamed, they let me know so that I could time the next spawn. Worked like a charm. I came back thirty minutes before I expected the third spawn, and she popped up exactly when she was supposed to. On the whole one of the most pleasant camping experiences I've had. In large part thanks to the other two hunters I spoke with.
Sounds a little bit like your experience in the end, Phantomwolf. I'm happy things seem to have progressed to a more pleasant level, and I hope that you get your Ashtail soon.
