what I'm finding hard to fathom is how comments about being disappointed at the availability of certain skins of pets suddenly becomes "constant wailing and complaining about how mean Blizzard is to us".

I also find incredibly offensive the whole "well, I disagree with you, so you need to just get over it and adopt my attitude" approach.

I'm disappointed that Blizzard didn't make certain skins which I particularly like available.
Wow, I actually expressed an opinion about something I care about.
But that doesn't mean I'm bitching and complaining about Blizzard.
I'm stuck here defending myself against comments like "just level to 85 and get the damned pet".
As I said, I LIKE to level with a pet I like.
Why should I not express disappointment that I can't level from an earlier point with a pet I like?

And Taluwen, you're incredibly offensive and aggressive.
You're probably THE most offensive and aggressive person on this forum.
You have no lessons to give anyone on how to behave on a forum.
You've been nothing but condescending to me, at every turn.
So I will leave it at this: if this forum had an ignore function, you'd be on it.
Let's leave it at that. I won't be responding to anymore of your comments.

A bit of palindromic wisdom:
"Step on no pets!"

I love pets - combat or non.

No more of the squabbling here, please. Disappointment has been expressed, response to disappointment has been expressed, let's leave it there.

(Admittedly, there would have been three pages ago. *grin*)

Probably better to just lock the thread really. There's nothing to be said that hasn't already been said.

Blizzard gave us a massive amount of pets this expansion that we all need to learn to be happy with.

Agreed. The attacks are starting to get personal and very heated.

As of Dec 14 at 11:59 am (after weekly maint) I was able to tame Lone Hunter and the oil stained wolf using the abandon macro. The oil wolf I got on first attempt, with Lone Hunter it took me about a dozen tries to get it to stick and he does have the sword in his head. So all this talk about a hotfix is wrong, there has been no fix for these two pets at least. I am leveling both of them now :D

Then your server hasn't been given the proper restart. Believe me, when Blizzard puts it in the patch notes, it's gonna get done. The downtime did end about an hour and a half early...

Last night I got kicked off the server for a minute, and when I logged back in I got an "updated tools" download.

At the time, my first thought was that it was probably fixing the appearance-buff tames. This confirms my suspicions. Ah well, I am glad i got a flaming piggy before it was too late. :)

I'm a bit sadden that my undead hunter won't get an Oil-strained wolf. That would've been epic.

Be warned that taming these kind of pets after the hotfix was announced can put your account at risk now that we know Blizz doesn't want this happening.

I don't think many of us can understand German....this is certainly gibberish to me....but that buff looks like a bad one that gives a buff to the pet, which exploits like that are what made these types of pets that much harder to get in the first place.

Could anyone confirm/deny this buff? OR speak German and English to translate?

this is the buff
http://www.wowhead.com/spell=46012

the pet was reduced and "weakened", there is no advantage except the optics
it is also possible to buff yourself and other game characters

All you need is a Horde Char and the Quest http://www.wowhead.com/quest=11721 from this Questline http://www.wowhead.com/quest=11716

There is no Pet with Buff to tame? Buff it...

But there's the problem with the buff...it does something to another creature besides just an appearance...which then makes it an exploit and possibly can get you into trouble. The appearance buffs never did anything to the pet or the creatures around it. This sort of tame has me very on the fence since it says on the text "Weakens magnataur", and you say it reduces and weakens the pet(which one would assume that makes your pet weaker).

I'm curious to what others may think. This is just my two cents since I remember that quest.

According to the wowhead data for the buff, it doesn't seem to actually do anything to the pet. http://www.wowhead.com/spell=46012#comments

Literally just shrinks it, though I'll run some DPS comparison tests. It seems fairly harmless currently, but I'll go see. Thanks for the heads up!

EDIT: Yep, no loss in dps. Just seems to be a little shrinkydink trick for now.

Really? I flew up to test it -- as for most of them, if you die with the pet out, the pet loses it too -- but mine didn't. Strange!
