Show off your 4.2 tames!

Not a tame of my own, but I helped an opposite faction Hunter tame Deth'tilac. While camping for Kirix, I decided to check on the other rares with Eagle Eye - and lo and behold, Deth was up! Naturally I went over and tried to tame once, only to have him reset while I was ressing my pet. At that point I noticed a Horde Hunter a bit further away and figured they were hoping to tame him.. So once they started the fight, I helped him get his HP down (Thanks Usva for sacrificing yourself so many times!) and /cheered when the spider finally shrunk.

Hopefully after that, Karma will see it fit to spawn Kirix for me... I've been camping as much as humanely possible since yesterday, and haven't had a glimpse of him, apart from the tamed counterparts.

So i finally found a name for my Magria. I named her Amitola which means rainbow in some indian-american language.



And here is a picture of Findu with her Deth she named her Spinxxe, a name for a horrible big spider in a german children's

Not my tame, but got a whisper earlier from a friend telling me that Deth was up and there was a worgen kiting him. I hopped in just to watch. The worgen hunter was doing a good job at kiting, but Deth wasn't deth striking for some reason. ._. His health lingered around the 80% marker for good 10 minutes and was very slowly going down. A lot of other people showed up to watch. Nobody was gladly trying to steal though.
So, me and my friend decided to help out the wee hunter and sent our pets in to die and launched a few frost traps. Deth finally started striking, a Night Elf showed up to help as well, and the rest went pretty smoothly. The worgen got his spider without too much fuss in the end (He did seem to forget in the heat of the moment, that his cat had been killed and needed to be ressed and dismissed for the tame actually to happen tho xD ). Congrats on your spider!

Similar thing happened to me yesterday, gossip went around that someone was trying to kite and tame Deth'tilac so I went to see. This was right after Karkin spawned while I was camping Skarr, and I got a hunter to come and tame it. Minutes after I got to Deth'tilac and just watched the guy kiting it around, the same hunter I got to tame Karkin runs in and tries to steal the tame! I didn't notice at first, but my boyfriend who was there watching as well (He was helping me camp Skarr before by protecting me from Alliance peeps. <3) pointed out that the hunter kept trying to cast his tame ability. He obviously didn't know the mechanic behind it at all. He didn't know the one for Karkin either, as I had to explain it to him.

Luckily the original hunter got the tame in the end, and there was even some Alliance hunters there trying to help rather than just kill everyone!

I'm really frustrated now. I just saw Banny - dead - again. Killed by some stupid alliance guys - again. WHY? Why can't they just leave us hunters alone. I just logged to my druid, annoyed by camping Banny, did my dalies, came back and there he was. Dead again. I just wish, I hadn't logged to my druid, but still ist pain for my pet-loving heart, to see such a wonderful beauty dead.

And unlike the Northrend rares, it's not like you get an achievement for bagging all of them, either. There, it was somewhat understandable for someone to kill them.

Some people don't really care about rares though and don't actually realise there isn't an achievement attached to them anymore, but that was a big mistake on Blizzard's behalf by doing that to Loque, Krush and Aotona. People will probably still be in the mindset that there is an achievement there for killing them, or even that they drop some nice BoE lootz.

Well I just think, they like spoiling others their desires. I really hung out half of the day in that dang tree. I'd love to kill my druid right now.... Stupid dailies. On our server there's strong competition between horde and alliance. But alliance ist mostly really nasty, while I for my part just don't bother if I see a rare I already have or don't want. They (ally) have often killed rares before, while a horde was trying to tame them. I really begin to hate them now.

I've seen bad behavior from both sides (I'm Horde) It only takes a couple of jerks to ruin things for everyone, and they know it and they think it's funny.

However, I do think Chaoyll is right -- some people simply assume that rare mob == cool loot or achievements.

(speaking of the Northrend rares, I just got Aotona AND King Krush within 30 minutes of each other ...)

Don't know if anyone's that interested but I finally decided that naming my rare pets after the actual mob was a little boring, so I went ahead and renamed those I have -

Sambas is now Libaax, means 'lion' in another language.
Karoma is now Consta, I was going to call him Karma when I decided to look up other words for it. 'Constallation' was one of them, but it was too long, so I shortened it to make Consta.
Gondria is now Amethyst, because I looked up shades of purple.
Ankha is now Opal cause it's something that popped into my head that I thought sounded nice for her.
Magria is now Shimmer, because her shade of blue made me think of oceans, then somehow 'ocean' led to 'shimmer'.
Ban'thalos is now Twilight, named after the owl from 'The Owls of Go'Hoole' because everyone and their mum has an owl already called Soren, haha.
Terrorpene is now Fuego, which means 'fire' in Spanish I believe.

And Kirix is staying how he is, because I really love the name and don't wanna change it at all.

I didn't realize you could rename your pets -- how do you do this?

(Not name them the first time, but change it? First time is just right-click on portrait when selected and 'Rename', but that's missing once you've done that once ...)

The best part is that they don't have a cooldown anymore. Can rename multiple pets at once!

Removes some of the worry about choosing the "right" name, too. Sometimes a name sounds good at first but wears badly. Same for my fictional characters in my writing ...

Yep, my boyfriend is a scribe (inscriptionist lolol) so I can get them whenever I need them for free. :3

Yeah, that's part of why my wee hunter is a scribe. Darkmoon cards and name certificates. >< I've named most of my pets now!

Solix: Lava (Glowbutt, Waggles, Orange, Tangerine and Tang were close as was TicTac)
Skitterflame: Skitters, AKA: Professor Skitters with a PhD in wiggling, setting hunters on fire and being arachnid.
Kirix: Kiwi (Although I'm kinda torn between Margarita, Doomtrain or Plantain)
Ankha: Spearmint. Mint was already claimed by King Krush! Minty fresh ghost kitteh!
Magria: Mist. Aquaria a close second or Aquamarine.
Deth'tilac: Despair. After one of my favorite Sandman characters. However, Amethyst was a close second. >>
Yellow Spider: Banana! AKA: BANARCHY SPIDER!

So here they are. I have tamed the rare red and yellow spiders but since I can't prove that they are the rares, seemed pointless to post them. I hear the green ones can be tamed elsewhere as well?

Skarr renamed Hydrargyrum Another name for the element mercury. It kinda looks like mercury to me.

Karkin renamed Runyx Mix of ruby and onyx for his shell colors.

Deth'tilac renamed LXXVII Roman numerals for 77 being he had 77 million health.

Ban'thalos renamed Strigi Owls come from the order Strigiformes. Shortened down to Strigi.
