First of all: Only one hunter per zone can have an active pet. Isn't it annoying when you're flying over an area and you see a beast marked as "InuyashaLuver" on your minimap, and for a split second you're filled with hope as you wonder if you've just discovered a new rare?! But after you land it's just so crushing to realize it was only a hunter pet. By only allowing one hunter per zone to keep an active pet out, all other hunters will have a heads up and know exactly what to expect. The system would work like this; every time a hunter enters a zone they'll have to announce their arrival in general chat, and then announce the name of the active pet they'll be using. You are not allowed to switch active pets after you've already chosen one. Turns with pets will last in 20 minute intervals, and the next turn will be given to the hunter who has been in the zone the longest.
Secondly: Even if it IS your turn in a zone to use an active pet, you may NOT use a rare pet that spawns in that zone, EVER EVER EVER. This may set off campers' NPC scans, and when they find out it was your pet and not the mob they were looking for, they may sporadically slip into a dark depression, start listening to Hawthorne Heights, and maybe even start wearing black nail polish so everyone knows how conflicted their lonely hearts are. Or they could just shake it off and get on with their lives, but what are the odds of that?
Third of all: You may NOT name your pets "silly" names. I'm in the process of organizing a "Naming Counsel" on every server comprised of 12 trusted individuals (one of each race, to be fair, and 6 of each gender), and every hunter must go through us before naming their pets, to ensure that your choice of names is acceptable. Gone are the days when we are exposed to ridiculous sights like cats named "Dog" or wolves named "buttmunch!"
In closing, I hope my fellow hunters will join me in this noble cause as we strive to eradicate impolite behavior on the internet. These rules really are tremendously simple to follow and shouldn't inconvenience anyone, so I imagine we'll be seeing a nicer, more content hunter community in no time!
