Isn't the enraged effect a... well.... damage buff? I could have sworn it increases damage, if so don't keep it because it is BANNABLE to have pets that have any effect other than appearance.Korsten wrote:I can confirm that the raptor and plainstrider are still tamable post-restart; additionally, they can still be tamed to be a fire 'pet' upon proper timing. For those people that lost the enraged effect, I can imagine that you might have to re-tame them to regain the enraged effect.
I also got to keep my fire.

Re: What is this fire pet?
Someone ran the numbers - seems the enrage is just appearance. The damage is one and the same with that of a regular raptor.Whoisthat wrote:Isn't the enraged effect a... well.... damage buff? If you read previous posts, thats not true. People have still gotten him.Paciphae wrote:I just tried to get one of these. The hubby and I both got the quest and I tried it on five raptors, then we abandoned the quest and re-took it and tried it on another five. Out of ten raptors and seeds we got three enrages, seven flowers and zero explosions. I'm guessing Blizzard removed the possibility of a ka-boom in this quest as their "fix" for the fire pet.

I don't think this is so.Paciphae wrote:I just tried to get one of these. We had to abandon and retake the quest three times before we got anything.
our first run through the quest got no explosions at all.
our second got one single explosion, but timing was off, so taming failed.
we didn't get the exploded pet until near the end of our third go around with this quest.

^ This. It's still in your bags, you sillies.Golden wrote:Just to point out, you don't have to abandon the quest at all - you can just keep throwing the seeds even after you've finished the actual quest objectives, you just can't see the item on your quest tracker.
Re: What is this fire pet?
Guildy and I tamed ours.
Some note for reference...
You NEED 2 people to do this. One to throw the seed, another to tame.
The seed has 3 effects on the raptors.
-It can turn it friendly, and it changes to another raptor model @ tame.
-It can enrage, turns red. will maintain the enraged debuff if you do the tame correctly. (This is useful to at least let you know your doing it right)
-Thirdly, the mob will blow up. They don't blow up often.
The timing to throw seed is at 1/4th the cast time of tame beast. Both of our tame beast spells where at 9.1s, so we threw seeds at 2.2s left, got enraged raptors ALOT before one finally blew up, but we knew we where doing it right by the enraged debuff on em.
Raptors are ferocity, plainstriders are cunning.

Re: What is this fire pet?
I really like my Shale Spider better. It feels like a pet, even if it IS a bunch of rocks glued together at the joints.
So I won't feel bad about releasing my little fire beasty when it finally turns into a regular raptor. (I already have a raptor model I love.. it matches my non-combat pet AND my mount)

Yeah, same here. He doesn't really have any animations to really make me want to love him. I just think its cute to imagine it as Calcifer. When I do have him out I always get comments... but in the end its just a glitch and wasn't intended to be a pet. It also doesn't make much roleplay sense for Serenith to have tamed fire. And I love my shale spider too! Who cares if its a bunch of rocks!Sukurachi wrote:I've now used this pet for two days.. and it's.. not growing on me

And to remember him before he returns to a raptor (A raptor that I will end up releasing):

Yup, same here. My own Calcifer is cute in his own way, and definitely fun to play around with for a bit, but even if they stayed permanent I wouldn't keep him, he's just...not a pet in any shape or form.Serenith wrote: Yeah, same here. Though I've never liked Shale Spiders either. The minipet's cute, but I can't associate with them as a pet since they're just...rocks. I dunno. I don't have a problem with them being tameable, they're just a bit too...not-petlike for my tastes. x)
