I tamed a raptor for myself today, and my fiance tamed one for him. We are on EU-Servers and didn't have a hotfix or patch or something - restarts are tonight for us. We did a dungeon with them and the fire lasts trough death of pet. We got a lot of questions where we have these pets from, but I didn't tell them, because we don't know if people will be as responsible as we are (not visiting BG with theses pets). We just told them they are rapotors which exploded out of fury of being tamed
I'm adding a pic of Grinch (my flame) and Flämmchen (fiance's flame, meaning littel flame in German) and one of Grinch and Findu visiting Dante (he fits well into molten front).
Off topic: does anybody know, if the angered Arrakoa Protector keeps his glow is he dies? Or does he become "normal" ghostly pet?

He keeps his glow, I believe.
It does....BUT....it will not be as bright or full as it was before death. It does stay however. :3 A smaller mist aura after death is better then no mist at all!
I can confirm that the raptor and plainstrider are still tamable post-restart; additionally, they can still be tamed to be a fire 'pet' upon proper timing. For those people that lost the enraged effect, I can imagine that you might have to re-tame them to regain the enraged effect.

Isn't the enraged effect a... well.... damage buff? I could have sworn it increases damage, if so don't keep it because it is BANNABLE to have pets that have any effect other than appearance.
I also got to keep my fire.

Someone ran the numbers - seems the enrage is just appearance. The damage is one and the same with that of a regular raptor.

Ah, I am not gonna risk it, and if it dies it loses it anyways

I have an enrage chicken, it DOES NOT increase damage. It just says, "Enraged. Pushed too far!" There is no aura or "Increases damage by X%." Besides, I wouldn't use Ragestrider. He won't be ragey if he dies. He's just there for amusement. When trade gets all trolly, I can whip Ragestrider out and be all, "Ragestrider was PUSHED TOO FAR." (Okay, fine. Its name is Moltres, but I call it Ragestrider.)
I just tried to get one of these. The hubby and I both got the quest and I tried it on five raptors, then we abandoned the quest and re-took it and tried it on another five. Out of ten raptors and seeds we got three enrages, seven flowers and zero explosions. I'm guessing Blizzard removed the possibility of a ka-boom in this quest as their "fix" for the fire pet.

Darn it anyway. Oh well.
If you read previous posts, thats not true. People have still gotten him. It's all RNG.

I don't think this is so.
We had to abandon and retake the quest three times before we got anything.
our first run through the quest got no explosions at all.
our second got one single explosion, but timing was off, so taming failed.
we didn't get the exploded pet until near the end of our third go around with this quest.
A bit of palindromic wisdom: "Step on no pets!" Casual player.. don't raid, don't PvP. Suffer from extreme altitis I love pets - combat or non. <That Kind of Orc> guild on The Scryers, small, casual LGBT and friends guild, join us Horde-side.
Just to point out, you don't have to abandon the quest at all - you can just keep throwing the seeds even after you've finished the actual quest objectives, you just can't see the item on your quest tracker.

Still working as of the morning of August 22, US realms.
Guildy and I tamed ours.
Some note for reference...
You NEED 2 people to do this. One to throw the seed, another to tame.
The seed has 3 effects on the raptors.
-It can turn it friendly, and it changes to another raptor model @ tame.
-It can enrage, turns red. will maintain the enraged debuff if you do the tame correctly. (This is useful to at least let you know your doing it right)
-Thirdly, the mob will blow up. They don't blow up often.
The timing to throw seed is at 1/4th the cast time of tame beast. Both of our tame beast spells where at 9.1s, so we threw seeds at 2.2s left, got enraged raptors ALOT before one finally blew up, but we knew we where doing it right by the enraged debuff on em.
Ferledon Tallstriders are ferocity pets not cunning.
My Characters
Signatures thanks to the amazing Sookie,Kuraine,
Rongar, Serenith and Me! "Follow my heart, Follow my head, I'll follow anything to get to her heart."
12 hunters and 10 other classes being leveled.
even after you've "done the quest", the item remains in your bag until you actually hand in the quest. I just placed it on the cast bar so I could time the toss while my hunter tamed (I was using my friends account on my laptop, while using my hunter on my PC)
Silent as night, silent as death, silent as your last breath
