Re: Random Pet Challenge [v3.0]
Any colours are okay, just no previously tamed familes, so no other cats, turtles, crocolisks, crabs, raptors, or carrion birds please. Anything else would be cool.

Re: Random Pet Challenge [v3.0]
Here is my report on the Violet Dragonhawk.
Name: Aido
Pictures:

Swimming: The same animation as flying.
Aggro: He held aggro well on single targets and with a little pet control, he did find on two or three, though more and he just didn't have the health to handle it and would go down.
DPS: As a cunning pet, he pulled good DPS, though I am Beast Master, so it was a bit less than my Ferocity pets.
Idles: He was somewhat limited in this, really doing not much more than glancing around, though he doesn't land or have legs, so I don't know what else he could have done.

Overall Impression: A very pretty pet and model. He had a lot of subtle colors and interesting little features. However, he just gave the impression of being very, very delicate, almost like a butterfly. It didn't really seem to suit my troll at all. If she was a Blood Elf or a Night Elf, I think it would have fit better, but for Khi'jazi, the character, this delicate, pretty little pet just didn't seem right.
Another please, if you have time!

Re: Random Pet Challenge [v3.0]

Right after tame, and then somehow dead to level 40ish mobs:

Akai in water:

Idle motions. Really cute little pincer clacking:

Sara and Akai:

I really loved Akai. I think he'll stick with me for awhile. He's much more interesting than the black beetle I had fallen in love with in an earlier pet challenge. His combat animations and his Harden Carapace ability are great. I love Harden Carapace for easily soloing elites and other painful mobs that would do a lot of damage to any other pet. Akai really can kick some ass and take some ass kicking. He's a great tenacity pet, imo. Anyone wanting a REAL tenacity pet with a built-in damage reducing ability should tame a beetle.
Name: Sarantha
Level: 85
Exotics: Yes
Restrictions: No monkeys/gorillas. Would like to add dogs and Shale/lava spiders to restrictions. Just do not like dogs/shale spiders and lava spiders I just see too much of. Wolves are perfectly fine, as are normal spiders, just no dogs or shale/lava spiders.
Part of Dynasty, lvl 25 Alliance guild, casual and hardcore (your choice, no one forces you to raid, but you can), very helpful
Come on over if interested (Runetotem US, Horde name Sarantha, Ally name Ellysetta or Valeraud)

Re: Random Pet Challenge [v3.0]

Sarantha: Akai didn't die to level 40 mobs so much as it's a part of his timer or something to just kick the bucket randomly after being tamed--that initial time should be the only time it happens. I've heard of similar things happening to pets like the ghost saber as well.

I'll post rolls later on before my raid, going to go crank some CoH in before that. XD

LOL. I didn't know that. It looked so funny, a level 85 pet just rolling over dead to level 40 mobs. Now I know why. Cuz he was a summoned pet.TygerDarkstorm wrote: Sarantha: Akai didn't die to level 40 mobs so much as it's a part of his timer or something to just kick the bucket randomly after being tamed--that initial time should be the only time it happens. Re: Random Pet Challenge [v3.0]

She's a cunning pet so I figured I'd take her along on a random bg. She didn't get much of a workout as Horde, for a change, stomped Alliance butt and we won in like 5 minutes. She managed to have a bit of fun though:

Can you find the Dragonhawk??:

Then it was off to see what she could do on a few mobs in Hyjal. She made short work of them as well:

She moved in water the same way she moves in the air, a very graceful flowly flapping with her body doing sort of an "S" type movement:

She's very pretty but, to me, the name Dragonhawk should belong to a much more fierce looking creature. It just doesnt suit this graceful beauty. Also, the buff she brings, eight percent increased magic damage, isn't very suited to a hunter unless he or she is in a group and the group needs the buff. I think there are other far more useful pets in most situations.

In the end the Red Dragonhawk wasn't the right pet for me. I didn't name her as we just didn't click enough for that. But she sure is pretty! Thanks for checking out our story. The End!

Actually, if you don't have another class already providing it (like a warlock), then a dragonhawk is an excellent pet for an SV hunter to use because it buffs all of SV's damage.Sesamee wrote: Also, the buff she brings, eight percent increased magic damage, isn't very suited to a hunter unless he or she is in a group and the group needs the buff.

Re: Random Pet Challenge [v3.0]

Rankin in combat:

Side/back shot and swimming shot. It was hard to get a good shot of him swimming, but its really neat. He swims like, well, a worm! He almost slithers through the water:

Rankin and Sara:

I really like Rankin. There's a possibility he might replace Akai. I love his blue coloring. Its almost enough to make me keep him instead of Kulingile, my yellow worm. His animations are awesome and he's a great tenacity pet. I love his acid spitting ability. A lot of people don't like worms, but the blue one is really good looking. He's also tall for those who like larger pets and even looks like he could om-nom-nom a tauren. I love his yellow eyes and he makes nearly no sound in combat. It could just be that I have sound turned down low, but I think he is a great pet to do dailies with.

Hmm good to know. If I ever try out SV I'll have to go back and get her again.TygerDarkstorm wrote:Actually, if you don't have another class already providing it (like a warlock), then a dragonhawk is an excellent pet for an SV hunter to use because it buffs all of SV's damage.Sesamee wrote: Also, the buff she brings, eight percent increased magic damage, isn't very suited to a hunter unless he or she is in a group and the group needs the buff.

Re: Random Pet Challenge [v3.0]

Much belated report on

I decided on a whim to take Rev back out to the deserts of Tanaris for a visit to his old homelands. As we traveled, we kept hearing tales from the villagers about a large, two headed carrion bird roaming amongst the smaller, single headed ones. My curiosity piqued, I mounted Rodrigo and began combing the desert locations that the reporters mentioned. Finally, hot and weary, and came across this magnificent bird, almost as if she were a mirage.

She seemed undisturbed by my approach, regarding me coolly with one green eye. As I reached out a hand to pet one of her beaks, she nipped me, cutting right through my glove and drawing blood. Cursing, I withdrew my hand and began trying to tie a quick bandage around it, glancing at the bird out of the corner of my eye. She hovered there, proud and regal, knowing she had my full attention. An idea sprang to mind and I turned Rodrigo around, having him walk away from the bird. A shrill squawk sounded behind me and I heard the sound of her wingbeats get a little faster. Smiling, I continued to move away from her until I felt talons latch around my shoulder and two bird faces stick themselves in mine, trilling. "Well hello there," I cooed, pretending to shoo her away. This resulted in more insulted trills and a peck on the head; she was mine.

With more force than I expected of the bird, she managed to lift me up off of Rodrigo's back and throw me to the ground. The breath knocked out of me, I barely had time to climb to my feet before she came squawking angrily at me and chasing me around the desert. So much trouble for just a tiny trick I played on her!

Once she finally settled down, I took Ember to my home of Undercity and showed her to a few of my favorite places there.

And, at her behest, we went and explored the training dummies, which she then promptly proceeded to attack with gusto. I'm not entirely sure if she was showing off or if she actually saw them as a threat.

A very interesting pet to be sure!

Re: Random Pet Challenge [v3.0]

His movements in water are the same as in air but in slow motion:

Being a ferocity pet I took him along on some dailies. He held aggro really well without an MD and his health stayed high. When he fights he does a sting animation that looks pretty cool and is very appropriate! I just wish wasps didn't shrink so much when tamed. A little bigger would be nice!

Here he is again on the training dummies

Glamour Shot!!!

This is a gorgeous wasp but I'm not keeping him as I love my black wasp, Buzkilington, too much. I'm definitely interested in checking out new colors of wasps. Thanks for looking! The End!
