Having a GM Restore a Pet

Unread post by Jadvya »

A while ago I asked a GM (didn't talk to him directly) if it's possible to restore abandoned pets. I was told it is, especially if you know when they were tamed/abandoned, any information like that, and I'm pretty sure it counts as one of the three "favors" I'm told accounts are granted. Does anyone have experience with having a pet restored? 'Cause I've done the unthinkable a few months ago and abandoned my Krush, (It wasn't so much sad as "You don't fit in much with these others I've got here now, go tear up Sholazar and I'll see you around, you loveable ball of scales") and I've been thinking that I'd like him back. However, I'm also wondering if I should just wait until they reveal the new stable system, so I can ask for other abandoned rares and my ghost hydra/Hive Queen back, but I'm wondering if each separate pet counts as a "favor" or if it's fine if they're brought back en masse.

TL;DR: Anyone ever had a pet restored by a GM after you abandoned it?

i have seen it done before my idiot sister got herself hacked and ofc lost everything a day later she had everything back and i saw her withh thhe spirit bear again already lv 80 ... now it took her 3 weeks to get that bear to 80 as well ... she isnt that good of a player -.- as in she has 61 hit rating at level 80 and thinks its a good thing so i doubt she managed to level and find it in one day
but i think there might be a time limit on it tbh blizz has records of EVERYTHING so you having krush will be on file somewhere :) and i gonna guess they count as one so like krush is one ghost is one etc

This actually happened to me just recently.

Long story short, I found Gondria and decided I had to have it, so after a lot of hard decision making I thought I'd let go of my core hound....The Beast from Blackrock Spire. Though he was a hard tame, I figured that if I did it once I could do it again with the help of my friends.

Anyways, a couple days went by and I realized that Gondria just did -not- have the same appeal to me as my big badass lava dog. I was missing him badly, so I went to retame him along with my friend Gala who had helped me the first time.

Cue hundreds of attempts with no success. We tried and tried but just could not get him tamed again. I was practically crying, not knowing how the hell I had managed to do it the first time and realizing how much I missed him.

After hours and days of this feeble taming attempt, I thought I'd open a GM ticket out of desperation. Just to see if maybe I'd get someone in a good mood who could help me out. I did this with absolutely no expectations...after all, I had willingly abandoned Beast and it wasn't due to a glitch or anything.

Still, the next day, I received a response and sure enough Beast was back in the stable in the empty space I had left there before opening the ticket. I've never been so relieved and thankful, and I'm never going to get the crazy idea to let him go ever again.

I think it all comes down to how polite you are and if you're lucky enough to get a sympathetic GM. Definitely give it a try, it can't hurt right?

I asked if a GM could restore the Scourge invasion set I was stupid enough to delete a while back, and the GM told me that they can only restore stuff that were deleted within a month or so. I'm pretty sure the same thing applies to pets too, so better be careful.

Wow, didn't know that happened to you! I was honestly a bit surprised you released The Beast to get Gondria, but I'm glad that at least now he's stuck to you like glue (or is it the other way around now? ;) ) I'd say Gondria is easier to re-tame than The Beast, so hopefully you can get her back when we get our stable buff.

Aye,

As Vephriel wrote above, I had a similar situation crop up last week. My ISP was having issues as I was swapping pets in and out of my stable. On a re-log I found them all, just gone, and promptly freaked...

I placed a ticket and crossed my fingers. The first GM was kind of , ehhhh, "... Sir I don't believe it will be possible to restore your stabled pets... " , but I re-applied my ticket and a day later a much more compassionate GM restored them all in a matter of minutes. And again I was gushing with politeness and thank you's...

Pet restoration is not a common practice I gathered from my conversation with this GM, but can be done. You need the luck of the draw in getting a pet friendly GM I think. Another thing that might be an issue would be the length of time Krush has been released. If to much time passes, they may be less inclined to be willing to restore him.

I wish you all the luck...

Yeah, I didn't really mention it anywhere. ^^; I think the sporadic-ness of chancing upon Gondria for the second time was influencing my decision too much. If I had actually stopped to think logically I would have realized that I could easily wait until Cataclysm to retame it, whereas The Beast may be retired. I don't know what came over me, but I'm so grateful to have Beast back. The one positive thing I can say about that whole situation is that it totally renewed my love for that core hound. I have him out constantly now and just grin like an idiot because he's so awesome. :D

I got my boys back! I got a response a couple hours after I sent my ticket in, saying that yes, they could restore pets, and there's no set number of "favors" an account receives, but they keep your previous requests in mind to make sure you don't abuse their powers. So I opened another ticket saying their names, mob name, when they were tamed, and when they were released--both King Krush and Loque'nahak. Logged in this morning and checked my stables; sure enough, they were both in there, only Geas (Loque) was hidden under the others. So I'm very happy and grateful. :D Krush was abandoned February 9th of this year, Loque on January 19th, so it wasn't too long for either, so I'm not sure if the "time limit" on restoration holds.

For those of you who got your pets back in this fashion...don't forget to send an email to the GM feedback email address leaving positive feedback for the GMs who assisted you! Everybody appreciates an attaboy every now and then, and that feedback might encourage more GMs to help when restoring pets later on down the road.

For those in the United States, that address is WoWgmFeedback-us@blizzard.com.

I've no idea which GM it was that helped me, but I'll send an e-mail of my thanks all the same!

If you give them the date on which you were helped, I'm willing to bet they can look it up and forward your thanks to the right GM. You'd be amazed at what Blizzard keeps records on.

What do you mean a GM noticed you didn't have pants on ?
