My theory is that Deathwing was made nuts by an Old God, just like the Quiraji and Ulduar guardians. When the Titans sealed the Gods underground, they still seep out in certain places and make people crazy (like with the Furbolg and their World Tree). Deathwing was originally the Aspect of the Earth, so he probably got a higher dose of their 'crazy waves' quicker than the rest of the world, because he was closer to them. He was probably one of their first victims.

Apparently, the Naga also serve an Old God (Azshara made a pact with 'something' to save her people). Next to the Burning Legion, the Old Gods responsible for most of the bad things that have happened to Azeroth, because they keep trying to manipulate people into setting them free to overrun the world again. I will bet it's another Old God who is poisoning the Emerald Dream, too.

My theory about Norzdormu, is that he is trying to 'fix' things by altering history. The same way that Malygos was trying to 'fix' things by destroying all the magic users who weren't obeying him. From the perspective of a desperate person who is CONVINCED the world is going to hell in a handbasket unless they can accomplish their goals, they justify the violence they do as being 'a necessary evil'.

Noz is hinted at leading the infinite dragonflight in the future.

Perhaps for the reasons suggested by Lazuly?

Kind of sad when you think about it. :(

Making her replace the consort. Basically ... yeah. That sort of thing isn't justifiable, and seeing Keri being warped into some mockery of a blue flight member with runes etched into her skin, trapped in ice, ontop of what else Malygos was probably doing to make her replace his lost consort, isn't something I'd say she'd deserve for punishment for killing his consort that was most likely willingly, helping to kill innocents.

That's all I'm going to say on the matter and I'm just not touching the thread again since we are derailing it now.
Mmhmm.

This is Blizzard skirting some incredibly dark themes without actually saying outright what's happening. Pretty nifty storytelling.

I'm not saying what he did was morally correct; it's indeed horrific. I just don't think we agree on the definition of "insane." :P

Okay, I've made my point. ^_^ All done!

Yes, I have to agree I like how they manage to get that by. I find Maly largely misunderstood. He's really trying to prevent cataclysm.

Most of the villains in history and in the best books are this way -- they're not 'evil' because they're cackling madmen who want to destroy the world for no reason. Most of the time, a villain has a 'logic' and justification for what they do. It doesn't make their deeds any less awful, but their reasons are more complicated than just killing people or destroying things for the fun of it.

Sympathetic villains are the best kinds. It's one of the reasons why Illidan is so popular. =)

Definately /drools - i must admit I enjoy my picture of Varian...he looks O_O ...nice - Believe you me he is by far the most attractive human male I've seen in game..The scars give him a toughened look you could say. But by far Illidan and Varian hold true to be my favorites... Well...but then theres Me'dan.... Hmmm
