Bug can mean spiders as well. In fact, Bug can mean all sorts of insects and arachnids.
But to make them more Mantid-y, just touch them up, give them some amber-like features, re-design the legs to look like mantis claws, and presto! You have a Mantid Flyer and Mantid Spiderling!

Now we're talking about nerubian, does anyone remember that forgotten undeadnerubianbeast model? It had like 6 colors but no animations.

The Spiderlings have the same animation as the regular Beetles... if only there was one or two that was flagged as a beetle.

Yeah, those. The "undeadnerubian.. wait for it.. BEAST" perks my ears.
Such a shame it was neverrr used, it seems like a great silithid colossi for nerubians.
Maybe.. someday.

I love the one pale, dead eye. It looks as though it could have been used with the skeletal animations of the crypt lords perhaps.
Check the posts above, Cow and I both posted images.Crotalus Horridus wrote:Can you please post an image of it? I would love to see what it looks like!

They could've been cool hunter pets, especially considering they come in such nice colors.

Re: [Suggestion] Nerubian Flyers as Hunter's Pet
They're quite interesting things, kinda cute if you ask me. Then again, I think a lot of animals that would be called ''HORRIFYING!'' are cute. Now, if only Blizzard would give them unique animations; then, they would be perfect.
If I could tame all of them, I would love them and feed them and pet them and give them all the love in the world until they're happy enough to eat people for me.
Now despite all that, to me, they don't really look all that undead, they just look a little ''beat up'' with ragged bandages and the single blind eye.
EDIT: They remind me of this:

Re: [Suggestion] Nerubian Flyers as Hunter's Pet
I'm back and again on the topic of Spiderlings and Flyers.
While all flyers may or may not be smart enough to talk (I'm thinking nay, because they have no humanoid quality and I think Blizz might have just lazed out on it)
Spiderlings don't really seem to be spiderlings like baby nerubians. To me they seem like a subservient race or caste.
The RPG is also deemed non-canon by Blizzard but even so, I don't think they're the same spiderlings the RPG suggests:
"Spiderlings are young and voracious nerubians. While not nearly as intelligent as adult nerubians, spiderlings are still dangerous; in fact, when they gather in swarms (which they often do), they are more dangerous than nerubian workers. Adult nerubians carry their young around their lairs. Up to around a dozen spiderlings cling to the adult's body. Nerubians leave the spiderlings in their lair when they move to confront enemies, but foes who clash with nerubians in their tunnels may find themselves confronting a spiderling swarm. Nerubians are spiderlings for about 3 years. At this point, they are adult nerubians. Like young creatures of other races, spiderlings have a limited command and understanding of their native language, Nerubian. Spiderling swarms are almost always attached to adults; the only other way an adventurer can reasonably expect to run into a spiderling swarm is in a nerubian incubation chamber. Spiderlings follow the commands of other nerubians, particularly the adult to which they are attached. Once the nerubians have destroyed or routed all opponents, the spiderlings feed.[2] "
None of them have been seen talking nerubian at all, they are mostly seen doing work and not being attached to other nerubian or close to them. In fact it states that a spiderling wouldn't be seen away from an adult nerubian, yet however all spiderlings we see aren't even near their respective adults.

Re: [Suggestion] Nerubian Flyers as Hunter's Pet
Well you have to remember is that the ones we see are all under the Lich kings control so they may not act in the same way as non undead ones would. For all we know they could act like that in life.

Re: [Suggestion] Nerubian Flyers as Hunter's Pet
I've decided I'm gonna make a Pet Ideas: Nerubian Beast thread because I like the idea of taming re-animated nerubians sub-races that aren't as smart as the actual thing. Any thoughts on my choice before I make it?

Eh, Gorillas talk in-game, so I don't think that's a game-breaker.
I love the carrion swarm idea, but I'd be just as happy having them as an addition to the Silithid family!

If what you say is true, then you might have averted any argument against them being tameable.
