Just wanted to say thanks for this suggestion! I'd been focused on my new Pandaria tames, but today I brought my hyena out for some randoms and the difference was very noticeable with the haste. Not feeling nearly as slow, especially with cobra shot regens, so Snort might become tagging along with me more often now. :)

Ha! Now that you mention it, I've done really well with rogues in group. Man, too bad there's no BM exotic pet with a similar buff as I try to keep exotics with me. Will defiantly brows snakes and hyenas tonight to see which I want.

Edit, maybe a chance to change the Devilsaur since currently there's no reason to take them over water striders.

For those of you saying your #1 do to the mechanic on the third boss in LFR.

I highly suspect that addons such as recount do not take into account the other players when your in the zone. a guild member mention this to me and we killed him before I got a chance to look.

LFR Gara'jal is easy peasy, you need only click the totem to wade into the spirit world for but a second to get the buff, then press your button to get out and then pop CDs on the boss. As soon as the buff falls off go back in long enough to get the buff back and then back to the boss. Rinse, repeat, profit. DPS on that fight is skewed, as damage meters don't count the DPS of those in other realms, making it difficult to discern actual numbers.

If im lucky the highest ive been is over 70k but I have not too bad gear all heroics and two higher ilvl items usually my average can be 30k though..
ill try the hyena though cause I HATE cobra shot.. it feels like aimed shot now, and aimed shot was the main reason I hated MM.. I also have almost all my geared reforge (just one piece not) and im still only 5% hit and 5% expertise. I noticed that alot of raiding gear has expertise but little hit.. and I dont get that.

Recount does take into account all players. That is the purpose of the addon --- to monitor all DPS, not just your damage alone. ;) Recount numbers isn't something to dismiss and as others have said, it's not overly hard.

While I do agree, those that tunnel vision the boss will naturally have higher dps then those going into the spirit realm. I managed to pull top dps on the prior boss but dropped down to 10th during his fight.

Indeed, swim. If you're switching between targets, your dps is gonna drop. Sucks but that's just how the game works.

Just another example of "winning the meters does not necessarily mean that the raid doesn't wipe."

Going into the spirit realm is what should cause more damage, though: You kill some adds while you're in there and you gain that buff that basically means more damage on Gara'jal himself. (I mean, that's why I initially assumed I was doing so much damage, because no one else seemed to be going in there; I can see how dps meter addons may count that as a separate phase though.)

Although, I wasn't about to ignore the adds while I was in there to maximize buff uptime or whatever, especially considering I never really saw anyone else in there and adds started getting overwhelming despite my best efforts.

My boyfriend wants to tank an LFR and I was willing to come with again to continue dps testing, but the queue was being really dumb today (in general I am noticing that when we queue together the queue just hates us and if anyone afks out or leaves we lose the whole group, as if it favors singles and not merely THE PEOPLE AT THE FRONT OF THE LINE) sooo maybe tomorrow.

Actually, that's true - I managed to top meters while half asleep because I went into the spirit realm.

Eyup. I'd rather be low on the meters but doing the mechanics right then be high on the meters and screwing over the entire raid.
