Vare, if it makes you feel any better, I utterly love Guildenstern (the midnight/shadow boy I got from you). <3 His colors are perfect (especially after I realized my imp is the same colors

I personally love your dragons but as many in here im suffering from space and treasure issues.... i got a trillion things to save for to gene up my own dragons.Varethyn wrote:It's painfully clear my dragons/lair are boring. I only have 4 "special" dragons that I can do little with since they have stupidly long breeding CDs. The rest, almost all basic starters, were picked because I thought I could interest people with popular colours. For the most part it worked in the earlier days, which even then was difficult cos I'd started later than most. Lately though, especially with the economy crash, I get lucky if people even look at them.
Don't get me wrong, I personally love my dragons. But I have no plans. No goals. I work towards things that I think people would like because I love helping people. So when no one even looks at my offers it saddens me greatly that my dragons are going to be exalted. Sure I get more than exaltation price if I put them on the AH for others to exalt, but they're still exalted. I've kept more than enough of the ones I deemed pretty as is. I can't keep hoarding them because of this small hope someone will take them and make something with them. Even the new blood doesn't take them, or maybe just doesn't get there in time because the low prices of basic starters make them exaltation targets.
I know a lot of people already have a lot of dragons they're happy with. I realise it'd be easier to buy an already gened dragon for a third or less of the price it takes to start from scratch... but if no one wants my dragons I have little reason to play. Which hurts more because I have little else to do as of late. I want to help people get things they want. I want my dragons to be loved. Yet when I post an offer someone else comes along with something shinier and I'm forgotten.
This isn't me forcing you guys to buy my dragons. It's been bothering my paranoid brain for a while so I just wanted to get this off my chest.

You should mention that on the thread it was suggested on ;PVasken wrote:Oh gosh. If dragons stop breeding, I'd personally force a refund for all my gem purchases (ie, using "the product sold was not as described") and quit in one fell swoop.
The person who suggests these things is renowned for their controversial topics (and trolling) though-- I wouldn't pay too much heed to them!

... Person who suggested it, here. Not a troll, just a person who understands supply and demand and the fact that exaltation will never be capable of removing enough dragons from the supply to increase the demand. And I've suggested it a total of twice. Once here, in its own thread, and once in the thread mentioned above.Vasken wrote:Oh gosh. WHAT. Noes, not you-! I can't name and shame, but there's a rather infamous troll on the official forums who keeps throwing that suggestion around. They're really fishy (HINT). They recently had a 6-page thread on it-- which quickly riled many, many people! I'm pretty certain it was deleted in the end. They've also said some terribly controversial things about Thrage and ahhhgg. Sorry for the misunderstanding! I never saw you make the suggestion! That person is renowned for being the biggest advocate for this change-- they mention it in every single topic. ;o;Aeladrine wrote:... Person who suggested it, here. And even attempting to get a refund is a bannable offense, for the record.

It is! I've never heard of anyone doing so, but I'm certain one of the admins mentioned it was bannable at one point. I'll try to dig up the thread!cowmuflage wrote:Aeladrine wrote: And even attempting to get a refund is a bannable offense, for the record.

I won't argue about the economy further-- especially since the unbreedable dragons, as much as I'm not a fan, will undeniably help! It's a valid solution, just a very controversial one. Even then, something drastic does need to be done-- prices have completely gone down the drain and there's no easy end-all solution to draconian economics.Aeladrine wrote:People on tumblr did it during the Thrage incident and then were upset when they were banned. It's in the ToS. The rule, I mean.
Also, the problem now is that supply outstrips (and, with how the game is currently built, will always outstrip) demand. Exaltation is not a viable way to deal with this, as so few people exalt. Buffing the rewards from exaltation will raise the base price of dragons, but will not lower the supply of them, as people will still only exalt as a last resort.
Basically, the problem is that people won't give up their dragons unless forced to, which creates far more supply than demand. If you can keep your dragons in a separate tab (so as to not eat up lair space) once they can't breed, you still get to keep them while helping keep the supply more in line with the demand. Putting money into genes and breed changes are still worthwhile, as you'll still earn back what you get from that dragon's children and their grandchildren and so on. It's not different than it is now. The only difference is that you're not constantly breeding that exact same dragon over and over again.
Dragons need to be removed from the breeding pool so that demand will increase. It's as simple as that.
However, this is rather off topic in the rant thread. If anyone wishes to discuss economics with me from here on out, I ask you take it to PMs. I'm more than happy to at any time, so long as no insults are thrown.
My rant? I'm getting really sick of this site, as it's increasingly obvious that even the admins know very little about what they're doing from an economic standpoint. The game isn't built to have a stable economy as is and, unless major changes are had, the economy will always come to a crash. Even changing exaltation payouts is only a bandaid on the issue at whole.
I'm starting to get tired of playing a game that only punishes and never rewards.
