I wish I was graphically inclined enough to know the difference between few and many polygons, visually. They say the dwarves have few polygons. What does that mean!? lol, I'm such a noob.Saturo wrote:I'd like it, but it's got so few polygons. It hurts my eyes...Vephriel wrote:Am I the only person that likes the aquatic form? >.>

Re: Worgen Druid Forms
I know this is a lot to ask, but could you post an example of what you're talking about? Maybe a picture comparison of a dwarf female vs a blood elf female, and point out the features that show these polygons? I think I have an idea what you're talking about, I especially see a difference between vanilla cat models (like the plain lionesses) vs say.....the northrend worgs. Is it something like that?Saturo wrote:Low polygos means the graphical fidelity of the model. Dwarves (female ones especially) are relatively low, as are most old races. New ones, like the belves have significantly more, and if you take a peek at the worgen...

Re: Worgen Druid Forms
Polygons are the shapes that 3D models are composed of. Older models in WoW use fewer polygons - so large areas of the model are composed of just a few shapes leaving them looking very angular on edges and such.
When a model uses more polygons there's more little shapes to spread around for contours, making smoother shapes in general.
Bleh, I'm not sure how to explain it. xD

Re: Worgen Druid Forms
For my untrained eyes, the biggest difference I see is in the heads of each. The blood elf's head has a ton more lines. But to me the bodies don't look that much different. The dwarf just has more space. If you were to stretch out the blood elf a little (like make her arms wider), then it seems like they'd be pretty similar. But the head/face...wow.Saturo wrote:Veph explains it excellently, much better than I could.

And I suppose that does make sense. Kind of like HD televisions. More pixels = greater clarity/detail compared to the older televisions. That makes sense.

Also, a polygon is a triangle so think about it as the number of triangles that make up a model. When you compare the Dwarf to the Blood Elf you can see how they use a great number of smaller triangles in the Elf and a lesser number of larger ones for the Dwarf. The more polygons they can fit in allows for a nicer, smoother looking model.
Two polygons can make a square shape and modelers may choose to use a square instead, they call those quads I think. Just mentioned that in case you ever notice some square shapes.
With this Soul Caliber pic you can see how they would use a ton more polygons in the face for the PS3 game because it is a stronger system that can handle a lot of detail, whereas with the PSP game they have to use less polygons. Works the same in computers, if they get too detailed in polygons it's going to be harder for older computers to handle.

....What Trees are getting it as a metamorphosis?! Sorta want and sorta not, they'd have to take tree-form off the tree and place the healing aura there...maybe.Ryai wrote: I remember them telling droods to stop QQ when they wanted moonkin and tree form looked at. And now look what's happening, tree form is being turned into a metamorphis type attack and I'm fearing boomkin is gonna suffer the same since it got the same treatment tree form did for talents :/
O_O NOO they can't ruin the chickens....I mean they aren't totally (like back in ye ol' days) gone they exist finally!
Saw that they plan to change travel&aqua forms in the Q&A for druids. So...Veph, let's enjoy the evil manatee while it lasts...yes I like that form.
