Miscellaneous skin mash-ups
Re: Miscellaneous skin mash-ups
I guess I can always adapt turtle skins and paste the band part on. That has been done before but I can give it another go.

Would it be possible to use Terrorpene's Skin on a Corehound? I wonder how that would lookWain wrote:I guess I can always adapt turtle skins and paste the band part on. That has been done before but I can give it another go.

I'll give it a go, but it will come out rusty and dull because WMV still doesn't render even Terrorpene with the proper red glow.SpiritBinder wrote:Would it be possible to use Terrorpene's Skin on a Corehound? Re: Mantid Tanks
Okay, most of these were really cool, but some of them stuck out, and now I'm sad that they don't actually exist.
Literally, I need THESE in my life. I really hope Noah does take a look at most of these, but I imagine he already did, given that you two are fairly connected.
I would give anything for these. Especially kunchong. Now that makes me even more sad that they aren't tameable. NGGHHhh.

Kunchong for hunter pets!

OK, this was getting way off topic for this thread. Sorry, my fault! So I split those posts off to their own thread, here:

Re: Hydras!
Wain wrote:I had a play with hydra skins today, which was fun. Pretty much anything goes for hydra colours, but of course a lot of them looked kinda horrific anyway so there was a lot of culling. Poor hydras. I also played with stripes a lot, which meant a lot of them inherited part of the red skin (the only one with stripes).
Here's a variety of ones I liked and thought were interesting
Silver-pink. A bit more striking than the in-game grey one:
A couple of really dark ones. Black with blue belly, and a dark teal:
Coffee:
Yellow:
A couple of blue ones, both very different to the in-game one:
Dark green swamp hydra:
A couple of purples. The first is a very soft lavender. The second a lot darker:
And finally another purple. This one with strong orange-magenta belly. It's extremely bright but I fell in love with it!
I've also been experimenting with Outland hydra skins, but they can wait till another day. They use two skins rather than one which means I have to ensure all the halves match and it's a much greater pain to render them all in WMV.
I know bumping is a no no, but in light of recent hydra news, wishlists are a fun thing

I like dark green swamp the best, followed by coffee.

A coffee hydra? A COFFEE HYDRA IN WOW?? BLIZZARD. WHY ISN"T THIS TAMABLE?! MAKE IT HAPPEN DAMN'T!
Re: Miscellaneous skin mash-ups
Wow, that was a blast from the past. Some of my choices make me wince now, but then I looked at large images of the in-game ones and realized that even the real textures look kind of terrible when magnified to that size. And I never did do the Outland ones.

Re: Miscellaneous skin mash-ups
Hopefully there will be a new model. Or ate least new skins for the Outland model.
Re: Miscellaneous skin mash-ups
I hope so too. There's the four hydra head colours from MoP. Three were used in the raid and the other (purple) was ignored. If only they could attach them to bodiesXota wrote:Hopefully there will be a new model. Or ate least new skins for the Outland model.

Ooh, the purple one would look awesome. I hope we see them too. They all have a lot of character!Wain wrote:I hope so too. There's the four hydra head colours from MoP. Re: Miscellaneous skin mash-ups
OK, after all this time I decided to try some Outland hydra colours.
Just one thing I wanted to note: hydra legs might look like they're using a bad texture, but it's just the way they are. The skin file actually has scaly features and toenails and all for the legs, but it seems they're stretched so tightly over the model that they lose all recognizable detail. So the blurry, "untextured" legs aren't my fault, I swear
Actually, there's a second thing: a lot of hydras have coloured teeth and a few of mine inherited that. I usually hate using the word "lazy" but in this case it really does seem like a few of the official colours were created by simple colour shifts that stained everything. It really doesn't feel like they had the time to attend to much detail.
Anyway, what I came up with tonight.
Yellow! There should be a yellow one...
A teal that isn't *hugely* different from the in-game blue, but I like it:
A multi-coloured (but mostly purplish) dark one:
A couple of light, grey-pinky ones. Not sure which I prefer...
Three reds, each a bit different. Pure red, red-gold (Smaug hydra? ) and red-purple:
Finally, a couple of swampy, understated greens. Maybe a bit more natural-looking than the bright in-game green. I'm rather fond of the darker one:

Re: Miscellaneous skin mash-ups
Yeah, I like the hydra legs just about as much as the demon dog legs!
Re: Miscellaneous skin mash-ups
I haven't posted anything here in ages. Tonight while they overhaul the servers again to try to fix the connection issues, I thought I'd try something...
The skin underneath the Iron Horde Clefthoof model is actually almost intact and looks pretty cool without the armour. The only problem is that they cut off the nose horn - it has no texture. So if you try to apply the skin to the wild model, the horn is just white.
So I thought I'd take the horn from another skin and adjust it until it matched. I think I got it so close enough that nobody would know it wasn't original. The overall skin looks pretty cool:
While I was there I thought I'd try adjusting the Iron Horde elekk skin to have green highlights instead of molten red, so it'd be more of a Burning Legion / Fel elekk. A Felekk. I'm not happy with the result. I think I oversaturated it and it ended up with some colour artefacting, but it's an amusing test. Really, I just wanted to create something called a Felekk.

Felekk looks awesome
I guess if the legion can't get Orcs to drink demon blood then they just put it in the water bowls of the beasts and bingo, demon beast
