Instead of some pet how about you look into the attacks?
Like how about have crows and stampede do the same damage over time? Or just make stampede a BM only that holds good enough damage?
Or like in general give pure DPS classes the choice of all their specs and talents? Giving all talents the same overall damage output/cd's to make them all on the same level of DPS?
I love the lone wolf idea for people who don't like the pet control kinda stuff, but it has really hurt the way to play MM since the other choice for a pet damages your DPS output.
A pet won't fix a thing, changing how things effect the spec itself will! Look into each attack and the damage its doing and give examples on how simple changes might make all three be on a equal playing field instead of one pulling ahead.
I miss getting to play a spec but getting to pick things differently from your cookie cutters and still being able to do the same damage as them :(

I can't confirm that SV is that bad off. I did Highmaul normal and we had 3 hunters, one of each spec. On both multi and single targets, the SV Hunter won out by considerable margins. I was very slightly behind the MM guy but SV beat both of us by more than 1k DPs. I also tried MM with Lone Wolf in heroic dungeons and did about the same as with BM.

As for the BM talents, I run with Dire Beast, Blink Strikes, Glaive Toss, and of course, Adaptation . My Spirit Beast pet Gara, does more damage than I do and I'm satisfied with how I'm doing.

I agree with the post , we need to do something about BM, I get kicked from dungeon and blame for Low dps because I am a BM, people just have this impression BM is doing bad damage. Not sure why this happened , but I get an instant kick for 5 times in dungeon que and blamed for low dps before even start the raid.

True. But I don't think we need a fancy new pet or anything. Just some damage boosting, and actually fixing hunters would be nice. Fix the pets, give us back a few spells and we'll be fine.

Yeah. Pets will NOT solve the problem. It will actually make it 10x worse.

Aside from a severe case of "special snowflake" syndrome, I have no idea why anyone would want one definitive "best" pet.

Would you actually enjoy having to be obligated to use one particular pet all the time, no matter the situation, instead of just what buff is needed/your personal preference at the time?

I will chime in on the single pet thing. I played back during BC when Cats were like top then Wrath everyone had to have a wolf and it was so pain in the ass. As much as I liked cats and wolves I wanted to use other pets back in the day that were still just as cool to me and I couldn't. What we need is gear with set stats on them. This random stuff where it's hard to get that right combo of say Mastery and Multistrike I constantly get Versitility and crit on my stuff which does not help my dps.

Since I have yet to be in a situation where I needed to provide a specific buff, I just use whatever I want. This is almost always a Spirit Beast since it provides the greatest survivability. I have never been kicked from a raid or dungeon for any reason but then I make it a practice to never run with elitists.

I dunno MM feels pretty lameish right now. Well at least compared to pre-WoD MM XD

Now that they are nerfing Aimed shot it seems like MM will feel even worse

The problem as I see it, is the class and the 3 disciplines.
Those that have played Everquest will remember the BeastLord and the Ranger.
I see the BM Hunter similar to the BeastLord, and the MM Hunter similar to the Ranger.
The BeastLord/BeastMaster aids the pet in doing damage.
The Ranger/ Marksman would be pure ranged damage.
Where does the Survivalist fit in? I have a feeling Blizz is not really sure.

NO. I'd rather not go back to BC/LK/etc. *rocks in a corner mumbling something about wolves*

Since Survival's damage output is almost all magic based, I have never considered them to be true Hunters and never really liked playing that way. SV was my secondary spec in Cata and MoP but rarely used. I have now switched to MM as secondary.

In my humble opinion, Beastmaster is the truest form of the Hunter class.

The thing i dislike atm about MM is that you kinda have to choose Lone Wolf to get the best dps. I don't like not having a pet so I picked the ammo talent but my dps is well below my husbands as he runs with lone wolf (we have the same macro - gear score etc) its like a 3-4k difference sometimes. Not that being top is my priority atm - i don't raid normals or anything atm but it kinda feels like we're forced into the cookie cutter again which is what i thought Blizzard wanted to avoid...

It's kinda sucky surv took a beating too - I used to like it as an interesting off spec to BM but I think my hunters will end up MM/BM at this point.

I'm going to say one thing about Survival. SV with Lone Wolf really is not bad at all. Granted, I'm not the best player out there and my guild's SV hunter is very good. When she is going lone wolf and single target, chances are she's going to beat me on DPS.

As it is, I need to play my BM rotation better to up my dps >_>

If I recall correctly, in Black Temple, it was all about having a raptor until you got enough...hrmm. agility?...then you'd move to a wind serpent. In LK it was cats, then wolves. I really preferred raiding with my raptor but 'did the right thing' and tamed a cat. I didn't name it though. After the other raid folks teased about my unnamed pet, I named it 'Cat.' Later when wolves were 'the' pet, I tamed one of the demon doggies and named it Cat as well. At the time I had PetEmote installed, which resulted in stuff like "Skywatcher's wolf cat...."

It was a while ago and back during BC my Pally was my main and I never really got to raid on my hunter. Just kept getting told that cats were the best. I just hated having to have that "one" pet, back leveling my hunter I ran to Bloodmyst and actually got one of the spiders and I loved it was small cool and not everyone had it but it had nothing for ablities back then and I got laughed at constantly.

On another note though I miss the demon dogs being considered wolves I loved having one of them as a pet.

I remember doing something similuar in BC - did the "right" thing and tamed a raptor BUT my raid leader was all like "Castile what is that!" umm my pet? "NO your pet is the tallstrider! Wheres your chicken!" hehe I had my tallstrider since lvl 20 and my raid had grown accustomed to her sqawk as she bolted into battle - always loved that guild and those officers for that reason :) I remember during ZA I had a windserpent too when they were the shiz. Much prefer now when we can have whatever pet we like.

Back then, outside of raids, I'd usually run with Peck, my tallstrider who used to be known as Mazzranache. He was the third pet I ever tamed and the one I've had the longest. Our shaman healer loved his 'battle squawk' when he'd go in to attack. In raids, it was Sparky the raptor (named because of some silliness back when my warrior tanked ZG), Cat the cat, or Cat the wolf.

I really should go back into ZG and tame a proper Sparky again. My current one is Takk the Leaper.

Anyway, for current dungeons and Highmaul, I've been using Grumpy (King Krush) or GIR (Chromaggus).

Who's complaining about BM dps exactly? I'm BM and I'm doing pretty awesome DPS at the moment ~640 ilvl.
