For Greed, Wassa makes a good point about Raptors. Those guys are always stealing stuff in the Barrens! I myself was going to suggest the Daggercap Hawk, because their models look like Crows/Ravens. IRL, they have the habit of snatching any shiny thing they see.
...Thinking of 'snatching' got me to think of Birds of Prey and their Snatch ability! If you really wanted to get into it, you could try and find pets that fit the image and behavour of the sin too! Still on the subject of Greed, when you get to that level, an Emeral Skytalon would be great! It's a shiney green(money), and snatches things!

I like the idea of a boar for Greed. Bears make perfectly good gluttons, and pigs have an association with money.

Edit: Also agree with gorillas for sloth. Lazy bums.

Lust, well i never thougth of dragonhawks before u posted it.. but yeah a pink dragonhawk is perfect for lust
I LOVE the hyena for greed although i do also agree with the crow looking birdies for this sin
Pride.. i think the tallstriders fit fairly wel.. but Lions.. never thougth of lions but they are pride

and i agree with wrath as a red corehound as i mentioned earlier

Yes! Awesome idea! And, like everyone else said, I like the green wind serpent for envy instead of the spider. I love the tallstrider as peacock for pride.

Hyena's are very greedy with food in the wild and are known scavengers or thiefs. They will gang up on a lion pride to steal their carcass..very "Greedy"

Lots of "noble" animals actually derive a large part of their diets from scavenging, including bald eagles and lions. In fact, lions often steal kills from hyenas!

I would just like to point out maybe a Chimera for Greed because they really remind me of dragons and dragons are known to be greedy hoarders

D'oh, found out today that I could not use the name 'Lust' for a pet. >< I figured that might happen, but it's still a bit saddening. I'm going to use 'Luxuria' instead, which was the original latin name for the sin. Though current English has changed the meaning to be luxury, originally it had more of a lust/lechery sort of meaning.

Anyways, I went ahead and tamed 5 of the 7 pets on my Orc Hunter since I will be race changing her to Undead when Cataclysm hits. I even have a name picked out, she'll be called 'Virtue'. Was surprised to find it free. The irony of the name appeals to me because there are 7 Virtues that pair to the 7 Sins, so as a contrast I'm quite fond of it.

I'd would be fun to go questing side by side with a buddy who has his/her pets named after the 7 virtues. It's always amusing to see hunters who have pets whose names go with or conflict each other.

I thought of that briefly but I think I like the english names more as a whole. Luxuria will be the odd one out, but oh well. ^^

I like your choices. Here's what I would choose:

Gluttony: I would choose one of the corehounds, considering that having two heads, they are likely to want to eat twice as much, even if it wont all fit. Plus the image of the two heads fighting over food reminds me of it. A nether ray seems fitting as well. All those gleaming eyes and teeth make it look awful hungry. Bears or boars are also good choices.

Sloth: I would choose a moth or sporebat for sloth. The Moth especially reminds me of slow, lazy fluttering. A worg might also work well, as they have very few idle animations, and seem to strain when they attack, like it's sooo much effort.

Envy: The green Chimera embodies Envy perfectly, with it's green color and two heads to be envious of each other.

Greed: A hyena or vulture seems to fit these well, though I would wager on a raptor, being as cunning as they are, might be greedy.

Lust: definitely a cat. Or one of the red/black spiders.

Pride: Tallstriders are a given, but the haughty way the warpstalkers sniff the air seems a bit prideful to me. Cats of course are good for this too.

Wrath: Scorpions are good, ravagers too. and perhaps a diseased or black wolf since they're always snarling.

I was thinking about my future hunter today and decided to finalize my 7 pet decisions. So here's the results:



Virtue the female Undead Hunter

Sloth: A turtle just seems to embody the concept of sloth to me, and with blue being the associated colour I thought this pet was too perfect of a match.

Gluttony: I ended up choosing the bear over the boar after giving it some thought. As someone mentioned earlier in this thread, the pigs in WoW are not fat gluttonous beasts, they're hardy battle boars. The bears look like they have the girth and personality for gluttony much more.

Envy: The outland wind serpent definitely struck a chord with me for this choice. Their mutated spiky appearance matches the concept of a green eyed monster, along with the serpentine form.

Wrath: Out of all the pets in the game, I'd easily choose the black and red scorpid at a glance to embody something vicious and angry. They look positively ready to fight, and the markings resemble blood splatters.

Greed: This was probably the hardest pet to choose for, but the answer came to me today. A golden crab! Greed makes me think of Scrooge-like traits (aka crabby personalities), plus a penny-pinching sort of mindset (claws to pinch and hoard things with).

Lust: The more I thought about it the more I realized that I loved the dragonhawk for lust. They're beautiful and alluring, and the fire breathing ability suits the fiery passion I associate with that sin.

Pride: I had to stand by my original choice for pride being a tallstrider. Though I considered a lion, I realized that lions meant a different sort of pride to me. They were noble, whereas the sin pride meant vanity and self-absorbence. The brightly coloured tallstrider skins are like a peacock with that haughty personality.

Come to think of it the crab for greed is an excellent choice. I keep thinking of the greedy Mr Crabs in Spongebob and then in Finding Nemo how greedy those little crabs were sticking their claws up going "hey hey hey"

They're pretty much perfect, except I'd think of the worm as Gluttony. In the book "Inferno" when they explore the ring of Gluttony in hell, there are worm-like creatures that are devouring people. That's the only reason worm came to mind, though But boar would have been the obvious next choice.
